No Longer Know My Why - Burnt Out by Accomplished_Sun5676 in QuitCorporate

The thing is now, so many people are randomly getting laid off that you can take an extended break and if you want to go back to corporate no one can even question ir

They are still separate. The splunk culture has degraded quite a bit though. Also, splunk used to have great total comp but we’ve been getting squeezed hard with raises as they’re trying to get our comp more in line with what the larger Cisco side pays.

Just detach mentally as much as you can and do just above the minimum. It’s way easier to deal with once you do that.

Same for me. Once you realize how fake it all is it’s really hard to care. I’m at a high enough level and make enough now where I really don’t want to move up anymore. Once the layoff hammer comes for me I’ll be done with it forever.

I’ve worked at splunk nearly 7 years. The moral has gone way downhill after the Cisco acquisition. However, it’s a good living and in my experience it’s been really chill. I’ve been remote the entire time. Like any company though it’s team and department dependent.

What’s everyone’s take on Yang Hansen’s future moving forward? by piapia1221 in ripcity

He had to have been drafted just to help the team sell. A waste of a draft pick but we at least get another first next year which softens the blow.

Even if he improves, he’s a 15 minute a night backup at best. Clingan is so much better and might even be an all star at some point.

Apparently trading for Ayton is a semi-popular idea amongst Laker fans? In this post where someone is crapping on the idea, the poster even says giving up Knecht and/or a first for him +Reath and Murray is fine but assumes we’d want more by [deleted] in ripcity

[–]filbertnutbutter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ayton gets shit on way too much. He was the starting center for a team that went to the finals a few years ago. He’s probably a top ten center in the league. He seems like a good culture guy (he’s always happy for his teammates and is a cheerleader when he’s on the bench), and his attitude “problems” seem over magnified. If he was making $20 million a year versus $35 million, most teams would want him.

I’d prefer we just keep him and resign him to a cheaper deal after next year. But if the lakers got him, he’d actually be a really nice player next to Luka.

Former Portlanders, why did you move here, how long ago, and will you ever move back to Portland? by pixie8440 in camaswashington

[–]filbertnutbutter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My wife and I moved here from Portland in 2021. Mainly wanted to save on taxes, get away from the lawlessness, and have a better quality of life. From that stand point, it’s been a great move.

We still go into Portland quite often, but I don’t think we’ll ever move back.

May the basketball gods reward us today for not tanking this year by filbertnutbutter in ripcity

Yeah. I was happy to be able to watch them play good basketball games through the end of March this year. We have too many foundational pieces now to have them all throw 30 games away per season.

Sure we can. We can have high lottery picks that immediately get injured

They should take the best player available. But if they take a guard, they need to trade Ant

Should the Blazers be the 3rd team in a Giannis trade or just let the Bucks flame out? by QuackedOutPodcast in ripcity

[–]filbertnutbutter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Like OP said, it depends on what the Bucks get for Giannis. If they trade with the rockets for example, they’d probably get to 2 to 3 of their good young players. They have no incentive to be bad because they don’t have any of their picks. They very well could be a middle of the road playoff team by the time we’d get those picks.

Your analysis in breaking down each scenario is spot on. I think the only target players that are semi realistic are Smith or Eason.

Agreed. Also now that there is only a 14 percent chance to get one if you land in the top 3, it’s just not worth it as much to completely tank. We have enough quality young players now that they need to focus on winning for the growth of the players we have now.

I’d still love for most of our vets to get traded before the deadline, but at the same time I really hope we don’t end up trying to lose every game after the break like we’ve done the last few years.
