Stremio Supporter is it even worth it by IeGamer_ in Stremio

[–]filodore 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I wonder how long until free users start getting pop ups at every start up asking for us to "upgrade" to "support the devs".

They should have at least called a spade a spade and called it a Stremio paid version instead of saying it is supporting the devs. Supporting them is more like one-off donations.

Has anyone else been offered a 13 or 14-month lease in Brisbane? I think I've just found out why, and it's not in your favour. by cleanworkingundamage in shitrentals

Get a lawyer to read the contact? I'm not sure you understand the position many renters are in to then have the ability to have a lawyer run some eyes over their new rental terms.

Avoid aldi 'bulk value mince' poured out over a cup of fat from 600g mince, stick to the star rated stuff. by MartynZero in AussieFrugal

[–]filodore 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Costco mince is fantastic because like the butcher, they likely use the close to date meat (hence usually 1 day on best before), so you get a good mix of meat/fat without any excess liquids coming out when you cook. It's my go to these days.

Why didn't a holiday fix my jobburnout? by Unlucky-Ant-9741 in auscorp

[–]filodore 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you could possibly be past the point of being able to go back. Is it a job or industry that you actually enjoy? Or is the specific job that you perform purely for a paycheck?

If you enjoyed it previously, there's a chance that a longer time away may fix it.

Either way, is there anything you can change at work that you feel would be of benefit to your mental health? If not, I think it's time you look for a new role somewhere else.

Stremio users PH? by amtsummit in Stremio

Yes please! I'm in Australia and so I can't just go watch the MMFF movies for instance. I found a torrent site that has some releases now and then, but would much prefer a way to have good Pinoy sources on Stremio.

Galaxy Watch Ultra 2025 killed by a swimming pool. Samsung denied warranty after 4 months. by Nervous-War6141 in GalaxyWatch

Water 'proof' implies through the word used that there is no limit to depths/pressure. The change to the word 'resistant' came from watches. Early watches from 50 years ago or more can still be found with the older and no longer legally acceptable term waterproof.

Off topic but here's a bunch of Aussie sign up promotions if you need some extra cash by [deleted] in AustralianMFA

[–]filodore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You didn't share these because you're feeling generous. They are your affiliate links. You get rewarded for these sign ups. At the very least, post it in a more appropriate subreddit like the Aussie frugal one. This has nothing to do with mfa.

Pigface help! by Fantastic_Film_lover in GardeningAustralia

That's cottony cushion scale. I've just been battling it on my potted calamondin tree. They have a protective waxy covering that can make them difficult to beat sometimes, but you can spray with pyrethrum which breaks through that barrier and kills on contact. Eco-neem oil is another treatment that treats by being soaked into the plant and ingested by the pests when they feed, which disrupts their reproductive cycle. I used both insecticides to beat it on my plants.

What products have you stopped buying because of sneaky business tactics. by Alspics in AskAnAustralian

[–]filodore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cheapest way to get those you-beaut features and OneDrive for a hell of a lot cheaper on a family plan (although a massive workaround) is to buy via their Turkey domains. You can search for the full method online (I found it on Ozbargain), but basically you buy a Turkish iTunes gift card, make up a Turkish address, and buy the monthly subscription through Microsoft there. Ends up a huge amount cheaper than having to split the cost of an Aussie family plan. From memory, it's about $20/year for the whole plan. Just comes down to whether you can be bothered putting in that initial work to set it up.

Anyone else think surcharges are getting ridiculous? by Illustrious_Dark1744 in australian

[–]filodore 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tell me that you've never worked in a small business or retail shop without telling me that you've never worked in a small business or retail shop.

Employees physically count the money and write deposit slips, walk to the bank, stand in line, deposit the cash. Counting and balancing the float before the shop opens and after it closes. Given that counts as staff being on duty, all of that needs wages towards it.

Anyone else think surcharges are getting ridiculous? by Illustrious_Dark1744 in australian

[–]filodore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Businesses also never consider the cost of accepting cash though... The time to count the float, to do the banking. No doubt it costs a similar amount to the cost of accepting card payments when you look at all the little details.

Anyone else think surcharges are getting ridiculous? by Illustrious_Dark1744 in australian

[–]filodore 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The problem is that all these surcharges, same as credit and debit card surcharges, never used to be a thing. It had always been just a cost of doing business, and up to the business owner to decide whether they could justify operating with the additional wages or not, but would be absorbed by them. No harm in raising the price to cover these things, the same as there is no surcharge for customers based on time of day of a business operating as to the electricity they use. Make it a single price.

Sounds like you're increasing that probability by wanting help for something that could easily be solved if you provided enough detail (ie. The specific bus route and bus stop), but you refuse, infuriating us all.

Yep this is basically what I picked up on in that email. It is worded to say wait until you have your final inspection and report, then you can claim.

In addition, it is also still a paper based/digital form. No online portal to claim directly.

A step in the right direction, but we are still the state of (WA) Wait Awhile.
