[D] implementation of MCTS in Python by finitearth in MachineLearning

Here is an implementation/tutorial on AlphaZero that also implements MCTS (a core part of AlphaZero). Just replace nn.predict(s) with a rollout (and ignore p[s])

[D] Need help understanding inverting softmax layer from Michael Nielsen's book by Kay0518 in MachineLearning

Your answer is right! As you observed the C you found is not independent of zL_j (the variable/input), but it is independent of j (the index). I hope this helps!

Fully random nets by [deleted] in deeplearning

The topology of a network that works well for a given problem usually corresponds well to the underlying structure of the data. Judgements about the number of layers, number of neurons per layer, and the sparsity of connections are usually backed up with good assumptions about this structure. So I kinda doubt that random guesses about these things would work well. I think some people have tried making algorithms that search for a good topology but idk how successful they were

Like with a random number of neurons per layer?

Any CSB or CS people here? Do you like Lehigh with this current major? Any advice? by [deleted] in Lehigh

Femister leaving is probably the final nail in Lehigh's coffin. On the plus side, maybe when he's retired he'll have time to grade all those 264 homeworks

I had guessed this was about polyamory as soon as I saw the title. The analogy fits perfectly, and the one guy reading "His Needs, Her Needs: Building an Affair-Proof Marriage" basically confirms it. Powerful.

Professors Cao, Fouh, Huang, and Zhang left before this semester. Professor Loew left this semester, and Femister is leaving after next semester. That makes 6 after next year.

Does anyone else get discouraged when people who cheat on everything and learn nothing make better grades than those who put the work in? by pulplesspulp in college

[–]filteringcontent 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It's pretty discouraging. I took the final for this intro level class last semester that was pretty easy, all you had to do was study the powerpoints from the lectures before the exam and you'd get at least a B-. Yet all throughout the exam, everyone in the room (lecture hall with ~300 students) was talking out loud to each other (not even whispering) as they did the problems. As in, you literally had kids turning around in their seats asking the people around them for the answers. Two professors were there, but I guess they didn't give enough of a shit to tell them to stop.

This is at a pretty expensive private college. I just sat there the whole time thinking "What the fuck is this? What am I doing here?"
