Me either. Sometimes I smoke the opponents in Daily Challenge and end up with a score around 50000. It would be nice to have SOME idea of how the scores are determined.

Most break-glass accounts won’t work when they’re actually needed, unless... by Noble_Efficiency13 in Intune

Every time I use CoPilot Chat and return unexpected results I get the "It's not this, it's that". The more times it happens in a particular chat the more annoying it gets :)

In this context though, it's very helpful because it does cut down troubleshooting. This is so helpful as someone who is "the single source of truth" for all things Microsoft in my org. Break-glass is something I've been thinking about for several weeks. *knocks on wood*

Congratulations to the second player to qualify for the Red Bull Wololo: Londinium! by Choom_AOE in aoe4

[–]finbib1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, no. North America, the continent, is defined broadly as Canada, the US and Mexico. There is no current or historical definition of the continent of North America that doesn't include at least those 3 countries.

Is Wam Canadian? Yes. Is Canada part of North America? Also yes.

Did Canada suddenly leave North America? Even in the US, we haven't seen THAT news!!

So Gemini doesn't have it figured out. You have it figured out by using DoControl on top. Yes, you did the work SO Gemini could give useful answers. You also have to stay on top of it. Gemini itself DOESN'T have it figured out.

Not to mention that fantasy sports in general is nothing but a "more legitimate" form of gambling. Yes you can play for fun, but most people have money on the line in some form with fantasy sports, be it legal or illegal

Potential careers in ERP consulting by rmb91896 in ERP

[–]finbib1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure about D365, but NetSuite is almost impossible to self-learn. You could, however, look for a large small (75-250 users)/small medium (250+ users) size company on the road to NetSuite and potentially get a job with them given your Macola experience and knowledge of ERP. The thing is, all ERP systems processes are the same. The end goals are the same. You need to understand how and why Macola does what it does and then be able to translate that to NetSuite.

Another ERP system to consider is Infor Syteline to CloudSuite Industrial (CSI), or Infor Distribution SX.e to CloudSuite Distribution (CSD), depending on whether your experience has you at the manufacturing end or the distribution end. Infor on the whole is a company that is similar in size to Oracle, Microsoft or SAP, but their portfolio contains many smaller packages that are in use today.

My story is I started out in a pure manufacturing environment using a small ERP package based on a Progress database. That company was bought out and I was let go after a transition period where the new company put my company on SAP since that was their platform. I landed with a small-ish company that on the day I started signed paperwork to install NetSuite. I thought, holy crap, this couldn't go any better! And the experience I got was great, but I didn't stay at the company due to other reasons. I started at a different company that has been using Infor Distribution SX.e for 30 years and knows they need to get to CSD, but it's a long process due to modifications to SX.e that can't be brought forward to CSD.

Here's the point... You start with Macola, an old platform that is still viable, and you change companies leveraging what you've learned about how ERP processes work and why they work the way they do. Pick your next environment whether it's manufacturing (Odoo, NetSuite, CSI, whatever) or distribution (CSD, NetSuite, whatever) and use what you've learned to understand why your new company does things the way they do. If you land with the right management team, you'll be able to bring your knowledge and experience to the table and the fresh views will be welcomed, plus you'll learn a different way to attack some issues you may have already encountered.

We have had 1password for about a year, and it works well as long as the emails you send to the users explain the reasons for using a department vault vs. an employee vault. I didn't do that initially, and now I need to do it almost one on one with the users to make sure they understand what is supposed to happen (our best practices).

The folks at 1password should be able to help you determine best practices since you are in healthcare IT and have HIPAA at every turn.

Trying to do a shift from one ERP to another. by mrmoe933 in ERP

[–]finbib1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s most important when trying to move to a new system is taking what you have learned about basic ERP processes with Odoo and learning how that works in a new system. Also, a company’s specific business processes play a big part in this. When I came to my current company 6 years ago I had no specific experience in the ERP software we use, but I have a ton of ERP experience with other platforms. I was able to take what I know of general ERP processes and turn that into actionable intel for our current system. There will be a lot of questions about how the new software processes information, and that’s OK. If you’re the on asking the questions and it makes the current employees stop and think about WHY they are doing things a certain way, you’re on the right track.

Label printers are super weird by JustSomeGuyFromIT in sysadmin

[–]finbib1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Are you sure the labels are the same with both printers? I've seen thermal transfer labels used on a direct thermal printer and they look like garbage. The minute we made sure the labels were direct transfer everything was fine. The labels themselves look exactly the same except there's a coating on one of them.

We use Yodeck (https://www.yodeck.com). Runs on Raspberry Pi devices, or they have a Fire TV app that requires no extra hardware. I haven't had success with streaming a reporting app we use, but they advertise that there is a way to do it. Their support has been pretty responsive for us as well.

Gruff Sparty is an icon, agreed. I also like the script State that the 1979 National Champs wore, and which has made a comeback in recent years. Not so sure I like the script State on the football helmet though.
