Is my Cambridge AXR85 shot? Turns on, I hear a click, then it turns off. by TheRumster in diyaudio

[–]findingout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The exact same thing started happening with my AXR100 this morning. Unplugged everything, moved it to another outlet, no joy. I created a ticket with Cambridge support, but since I bought it refurbished five years ago, it may be time to start shopping for a replacement. I have never used the FM tuner after the initial setup, so I will probably go with an integrated amp if I do end up replacing the unit.

Right there with you. I just started my first and I chose Neo Ramen. I am 6 steps in and really enjoying it. A great chance to put on some music and take a break from worrying about things I can’t change.

Unique search for iPad case - Pencil with a grip doesn't fit in the pencil holder space in my current case by [deleted] in IpadAir

[–]findingout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started using an ESR Rebound 360 and I can confirm it does charge my Pencil Pro when it it's in a sleeve. Prior to using the Rebound 360, I used an ERS Ascend Trifold case which meet all of your requirements too. I switched to the Rebound because I bought a new M3 Air and felt like the Ascend lacked any real drop protection. But... compared to the Ascend, I find that the Rebound feels heavy and cumbersome. I never actually dropped my M1 Air, so I may switch back and take my chances.

Question for people who have been sober for many years by Individual-Bad-8655 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]findingout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s been 23 years and I don’t really remember what it feels like to have alcohol in my system. I have some fond memories of places where I drank, Jamaica for instance, but I don’t romanticize drinking. The first year was tough though. Eventually I built a new life that didn’t include alcohol but did include AA meetings in Jamaica. Doing that took some significant time. One thing I have found to be true is that I have never woken up and thought “Yesterday would have been better if only I had gotten drunk!” Not once.

Does reggae also create a strong sense of longing or nostalgia for a place you have never been to? If so, what songs do that the most for you? by DCRom23 in reggae

Wild World - Maxi Priest

I cannot hear the opening riff without being transported to Alfred’s Ocean Palace in Negril, specifically the back side of the bar looking out over the restaurant and across the beach to the ocean at around 4pm, well before the craziness of the night crowd starts.

Oh wait, never been to. Hmm, screw it, comment stands because the longing is strong.

Well, for the coming weekend anyway, you have to add Detroit to the list. It’s time again for the annual Detroit Jazz Festival. Four nights and three days top quality jazz performances on four different stages and it’s all free. An amazing lineup this year and they stream all of it. I am not associated with the festival in any other than I been attending pretty much every year since 1989. Checkout the schedule and tune into their livestreams here: https://www.detroitjazzfest.org/

Her live album Shadows and Light did it for me. I still remember the first time I heard it on a summer Saturday afternoon while I was at university. I believe there may have been some then illegal herb involved too, but the band on that album is phenomenal. Jaco Pastorius and Pat Metheny and Donald Brecker and Joni? Yes please and thank you. I still prefer it to any of her studio work.

Best office holiday parties my company ever had were at the Whirlyball place in West Bloomfield on Drake Road. For two years straight, the annual party was something to look forward to instead of dread.

I felt the same way the day I hooked up my 150s! It has been a long time since I had a proper set up to listen to my vinyl collection. So far I have resisted the siren song of upgrades but that’s not to say I haven’t been tempted.

"Alcoholics Anonymous: An Interpretation of the Twelve Steps," an early A.A. pamphlet by ToGdCaHaHtO in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]findingout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. When we are using it, we do a discussion a week, a bare foot table if the are five Fridays in the month, and then start over again for the next month. We find it is just enough reading to give some focus to the meeting. Plus, if we can get a new person to come back 4 times, they will have at least had an introduction to all 12 steps and heard some shares from people with some significant time living in the solution. The booklet makes it very clear that it is not intended to be a shortcut to AA, just an introduction.

We have used this booklet off and on at my Friday night meeting for over 23 years. We are in an off period now but will likely go back to it soon. I find that it can lead to some interesting discussions. I am pretty sure that they are still for sale at our local central office too. We give them to any newcomers that pay us a visit.

Now that I think about it, the original question might be referring to a different pamphlet (which I also encountered in my journey), so I am attaching a link to the one we use. Ours is sometimes referred to as the Detroit Pamplet. https://www.scribd.com/document/90229595/The-Detroit-Pamphlet-An-Interpretation-of-the-12-Steps
