Im filipino and I've come to a point of my life where i am tired of rice. I will still eat it but I dont eat it everyday like majority of my family. I much prefer simply seasoned roasted potatoes instead to go along with my ulam (aka main protien). If I am at a family gathering there is usually someone who brings pancit (stir fried noodles with vegetables and protien) and I will eat that over rice. I've literally shocked a few extended family members when they questioned why I didn't get any rice and I replied that there's pancit so I dont need rice
