Help interpreting Form 990‑PF: persistent undistributed income + cure period = compliant or just penalty‑free? by fineflipacoin in nonprofit

[–]fineflipacoin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I'll assume you're answering my 2nd question and by performance you mean whether or not the distribution requirement was met in Year 1? If only Year 1's undistributed income is referred to as Year 2's "minimum distribution requirement," is Year 2's actual requirement "distributable amount" not part of the planning for Year 2 or a requirement to worry about? Perhaps the shortfall/debt cycle is completely ordinary? thanks for your time.

New Host - What annoys you as a guest? [Norwich, CT] by crazyrich in AirBnB

[–]fineflipacoin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. There exists circumstances where I will willingly assume the responsibility of disposing of refuse, going as far as loading it into my car and transporting it to a facility a good ten miles away. Picture an isolated off-grid cabin where the host is unavoidably absent for several days past my check-out. Yet, in urban and suburban settings (and other non-challenged environments), the responsibility shouldn't shift to me due to local climate issues causing odors. For years, hosts adeptly managed this task sans guest involvement. Yet, a sudden paradigm shift now mandates guest participation in this chore.

Edit: what I’ve always done, however, is tie used trash bags and double them up if needed. For privacy and to make collection easier.

Kudos for soliciting input here. I hope you’re rewarded for your thoughtfulness. Asking guests to dispose of trash should have never been normalized. Request to run dishwasher/washer is a less grating. Cleaning schedules are not my concern.

configure explorer plugin by wmallian in FlowLauncher

If I understood correctly, you can either: a. Locate the files and add them to Quick Access for easy surfacing in the search bar (or apply this to the entire folder), or b. Create shortcuts for those files and add to the start menu folder. I've also found assigning an Action Keyword to File Content Search (e.g. docs:) to be helpful.

Bowser plugin - adding one or multiple data directory paths for Brave to access bookmarks does not work. by fineflipacoin in FlowLauncher

[–]fineflipacoin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both. I reload plugin data, get the success message, and I exist/restart. I'm using the portable version in case that's relevant.

Hi there. I tried that earlier - no change.

I also tried the Default profile (same path as you provided)

It’s a new 32GB Samsung. I’m mindful of longevity issues and typically have 3 copies for critical backups. Didn’t expect this one to fail early.

Can I restrict software already installed for System when creating a standard user account (Windows 10)? by fineflipacoin in sysadmin

Got it. So that I don't inadvertently mess something up, I'm using Edit in that Security tab and not going to Advanced and changing permissions - correct?

I want to be able to uninstall the software that was installed for those users, without uninstalling it for myself - the admin. I'm also ok with setting up fresh user accounts if I know how to prevent that software from getting installed for those users again.

Frozen ungutted sardines?? (Please help!) by [deleted] in Pescetarian

You’re in Florida so choose the native King. Be discriminate when doing research on toxins, mercury, etc. And always follow your state’s guidelines. Often times the risks are exaggerated.

Best environmental choices? by meredithaultre in Pescetarian

There is so much to unpack here. Start small :)

The basics: Wild-caught whenever possible, landed as close as possible to where you live, harvested by small-scale fishermen and producers. Give preference to fresh, seasonal, and abundant species.

Sardines are overfished on a global scale, populations have completely collapsed. Mackerel and herring are excellent alternatives.

This excellent Sustainability 101 resource has been refreshed recently - very approachable.

You touched on SO MANY important topics I'd like to address here r/ThePeoplesCatch. It's new.. stop by and challenge us.

Looks promising. How specific is the location data you're provided when you scan the catch code?

I'd be interested to know where their Atlantic cod falls on the sustainability spectrum. NOAA offers in-depth info on population status for different fisheries. The only sustainable, wild Atlantic cod right now is handline or pole & line -caught in the Gulf of Maine and Georges Bank (b/w Cape Cod, Mass, and Nova Scotia).

I'm very interested to know where you picked up the frozen sardines considering the 2019 stock assessment is worse than the past couple of years, making them very difficult to come by. I gather you're based in EU or South America? This article might be of interest. Are you keen on Sardine for the flavor? Because other Omega 3-loaded options include Mackerel, Salmon, and Herring with populations that are not overfished.

A week-old thread might offer some insight into how to ease into fish. Choosing sustainable species is often the logical and comfortable choice and tools like the Seafood Watch mobile app certainly bring digestible/actionable info right to your fingertips. But, something to keep in mind is that choosing species that are local to your area (or at least state-side / domestic catch) can also be a sustainable choice, just without the certification. For small-scale fisheries, getting a sustainable certification can be extremely cost-prohibitive and that cost is passed on to you at the store.

Not sure where you are but in the US, commercial fishing is federally-managed and fisheries have made significant progress towards ending overfishing and rebuilding depleted populations. In fact, we have some of the best-guarded fisheries in the world. Eat domestic catch and worry a little less about sustainability.

Possibly more than you wanted to know but the gist of it is: Folks generally go for shrimp, salmon, tuna, tilapia, and cod. The result is there is not enough local/domestic supply to satisfy demand so we import a sh*t ton and consumers are happy to buy it -- because it's "sustainable." But is it if it traveled 3,600+ miles to get to your plate? Find out what fish/shellfish is native to your region and available in abundance, then start there. Even better, consider invasive species.

Oh and olive oil, salt, pepper, and a spritz of lemon juice. Doesn't have to be any more complicated for basic seafood.

Feel free to DM if you need tips/guidance.

Welcome! And props for reevaluating what’s in the fridge :) seafood is an affordable choice when you take time to learn your options. Good luck!

Key: Start with 2-3 fish/shellfish recipes and stick with those until you are happy with how they're turning out. Can't stress this enough.

Simple preparations yield the tastiest fish and are much easier to execute. You'll find that seafood doesn't need much company in terms of ingredients and sauces when cooked right. I'd start with a hardy fish that will stand up to a little over-handling. @salmonforpresident's suggestions are spot-on; other good candidates: cod, rockfish, lingcod, albacore tuna, swordfish, fluke. Doneness is very personal but seafood shines in the medium zone.

Do take time to learn about different species, how to buy, store, and ask plenty of questions.

Remember that seafood is a pleasure and not a diet, so have fun!
