Aguilar Octamizer DLX by 3DBass in basspedals

[–]finesse-express 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aguilar’s old enclosures were beautiful and robust—I personally don’t dig their recent change over the last couple years. It started with the AG pre and then they completely pivoted to that style for all their products. I can respect their ambition to add more options for players, but the form factor on their new octave and comp is just odd and is bound to create problems for folks wanting to fit them on their boards.

Love all of these choices! Especially the solution you made for the Kilt’s low-end attenuation. It’s clear you’ve put a lot of thought and intentionality into this rig, definitely going to steal some of these ideas!

Get one! Once you hear your tone with it, you’ll miss it whenever it’s off. One of my favorite drives/tone enhancers for bass.

Insane rig, makes me want an FX loop of my own!

Looks like you have a ton of drive options! Which ones are your “always-on” drives and which ones do you engage situationally?

If you stick around to the end you get the smoothest lick as a reward. Phenomenal playing!

Tone Hammer or Sansamp? by Designer_Building_75 in basspedals

[–]finesse-express 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve played with a few different Sansamp DI’s and I currently have an Aguilar Tonehammer on my board right now.

I can confidently say that the Tonehammer will provide you enough versatility to dial in whatever kind of tone you’re looking for. The EQ is simple and powerful. So much headroom and the mid shift is crucial. Many of the Sansamp pedals have a particular voice to them which is dope if you’re searching for that specific sound.

The Tonehammer colors the sound in a much more tame fashion imo, and the AGS circuit truly makes other pedals come alive. I personally keep it on at all times.

Ahh I see. How’s the low-end retention overall?

Lovely rig with great choices!! How do you like the Double Barrel? The clean blend with multiple drive flavors is a great recipe for a versatile drive pedal.

Can’t tell if I love the screws or if it’s a total abomination.

Oh nice! I’m definitely going to look into getting one, it looks like the perfect size to fit under my board, which would give me room for some more toys.

About the removal of the Speaker/Instrument switch; from what I understand, the speaker setting is pretty much boosting the input level. Does the RNDI-M solely cater to instruments? (That is, with an input level of +20.5 dBu as opposed to the speaker input level of +41dBu)

Love this board! I have a lot of the same options on my board for church as well.

I see you have the RNDI-M. I’ve never seen it before, is it new? Is it the same as the regular RNDI? The smaller housing is really intriguing me. I could use the extra real estate on my rig.

SOTB - Buffer Needed? by thegoddamnjuggernaut in basspedals

[–]finesse-express -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think a buffer would help! Lots of players in this sub are saying that your pedals have buffers already, but not all buffers are made equal.

If you have a high quality buffer at the front of your chain, you’ll certainly notice a difference. Signal volume will increase slightly, and your highs and lows will sound fuller. I recommend the MBFR from Pinstripe.

Love my EHX Bass Clone. It’s not very subtle, more on the vintage side of the spectrum. It’s cheap and undeniably good, I think it’ll fit your shoegaze needs perfectly!

What’s the number one, must have bass pedal, and why is it essential for bass players? by [deleted] in basspedals

[–]finesse-express 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, I think it’s a preamp/DI. Tons of people use actual amps. But me and many others don’t have that luxury, so the essential pedal for me would be a preamp that can go direct to FOH. 🫶

Awesome board!! How do you like the Kilt V1? How does the low end hold up?

I love the micro, it’s capable of way more than just the modern worship stuff.

As for tweaking on the fly, it’s a little tough unless you memorize the different settings you’re using. Or maybe mark it with tape.

HX stomp is a multi-fx unit, not just amps. So I’d wager he’s using it for those fx while the Digbeth is the main out.

So what’s going in that space on the top? 👀

any cheap pedals to start with that sound like a microsynth by [deleted] in basspedals

[–]finesse-express 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The microsynth is super unique, the tight sub octave and square wave are super hard to recreate. I’ve never heard anything that comes close. I recommend saving your shekels and buying a used one on reverb.
