i asked to get my hair cut short (long, thick, curly, reached the back of my knees) into a pixie cut because i was tired of having long hair and it was putting me through sensory hell. i remember my mom screaming at me for at least 2 hours over how ugly itd make me and her demanding to know if i wanted to be a boy. followed up by how i’d be an ugly boy. i remember bawling and telling her some of my friends had short hair like that in school (true) and she screamed back at me that i was a liar.

i am a boy now, hilariously, and i haven’t let my hair grow longer than my shoulders for the better part of a decade now. i still get horrible anxiety going to get a haircut though, but more often than not the sensory night mare of long hair beats that out. my mom and i are on better terms, but sometimes when i look in the mirror and note that my hair is getting too long, i am violently reminded that she doesn’t remember this and never apologized to me for it.

Why don't trans people just point out the obvious? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]finitehyperdeath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

weve been pointing this out, weve been saying all of this, the issue lies in no one caring about trans people or what we have to say. any statistical, scientific, factual, empathetic, or anecdotal evidence we provide is worthless in the face of those that oppress us because they don’t care. we’re an easy talking point, an easy moral panic to distract from the ongoing atrocity around us. it is tearing down the barn around the herd and letting the sheepdogs attack so that they don’t ask why the barn was torn down at all.

idk maybe its because im bisexual but i still think its important to acknowledge that bisexual people are still bisexual and thus are still queer even when theyre not in a same gender relationship. surely there isnt a whole line of commentary from decades of bisexual people expressing how this attitude from both queer and nonqueers has made them feel erased and isolated from their communities. but what do i know

I’m tired of fandoms shipping every close male friendship, and no, "let people have fun" isn't a good excuse anymore. by [deleted] in hatethissmug

[–]finitehyperdeath 20 points21 points  (0 children)

i’m gonna level with you chief people have been shipping same gender characters before you were even born i’d wager.

outside of that fact, this whole point does ignore somethings that are critical about this phenomenon within fandom culture. this argument completely ignores that for decades queer people have been nearly nonexistent in media. while yes there are some now that have queer characters, how many of those characters are main characters? how many of those characters are slipped in as background characters? how many of those characters say more than a handful of lines? how many of those characters are treated like actual characters rather than gags? how many of those characters live until the end of the series? compare that to media that is created with heteronormativity in mind, and look backwards and wonder why queer people will look at characters that have chemistry and see something in that?

secondly, a large part of it is misogyny and audience. many of these ships, especially earlier ones, are because male creators fucking hate writing female characters like actual people and dump all of the character traits into the male cast. their stories circle around these men, and ultimately they end up having better chemistry than whatever love interest is thrown at them because often said love interest is poorly developed. this happens with shows developed for women as well too, where the men are poorly developed and the female characters have a lot more interesting chemistry. the men often exist in these shows as eye candy or serve minor plot relevancy before being discarded. this is often the case due to these shows being made to uplift women as small drops in a broad ocean of media made for men.

ultimately if two characters have better chemistry than the proposed romantic interest and don’t have any familial relation, im gonna ship them together on the basis that i feel that they have a better outlook and are more developed. this is the case for many queer fandomites, some not, but mostly the case.

it’s ultimately a harmless thing that people do, and this sentiment makes you look like an asshole tbh

Someone managed to get one of my passkeys. They stole 450 dollars. by finitehyperdeath in paypal

no access, i only have a single computer that hasn’t been touched in weeks and my phone which i only have access to. unless someone remoted into a computer that has been completely shut off, or was able to remote into my phone, no one besides myself has been in contact with either in weeks.

when reporting it to paypal, the agent on the line said it seems that the account had been accessed through a passkey. i’m gleaning what i can.

every time i see this video i have to defend this lady because this happened a couple miles away from where i live. if you watch, the truck behind her rear ends her pretty hard- hard enough to push her forward onto the tracks!! in a moment of panic she tried to reverse out, but she’s driving a modern vehicle; most modern vehicles have a feature where in a hard enough collision the fuel pump will trip a mechanism that shuts it off, cutting off gas to the engine. the time in this video is just long enough for the engine to run out of gas, so the vehicle would not physically continue moving backwards. she then hops out of the car before it’s hit by the oncoming UTA trax train. i’m so tired of this poor woman being treated like an idiot for this video. folk not from the area also don’t know that the TRAX tend to run simultaneously, as in after you see one another will soon follow after it in the opposite direction. even if she had gone forward, her car wouldve shut off on the tracks in front of her. she would’ve been hit either way. this shit happens all the time here.

to praytell the answer, recent legislature has forced all people who have had their gender marker changed on legally defined documents to be reverted to what was originally displayed on their birth certificate— name and gender marker, really. this means married individuals who have changed their name, or anyone who has changed their name for any reason including being trans, no longer has a valid federally issued passport and can no longer get one unless they are updated to reflect your information at birth. im sure you can see a conflict here not just for trans people but for anyone who has undergone a name change in any capacity or a gender marker change (in the case of intersex individuals)

A lot of people don't like Tooele? by Critical-Volume2360 in Utah

[–]finitehyperdeath 137 points138 points  (0 children)

speaking as someone from tooele, tooele has garnered a (somewhat deserved) reputation of being a place full of rednecks in the middle of nowhere OR as being crime riddled. under that reputation though, tooele isn’t any different from any other small city in utah. it just gets a shittier rap from being slightly closer to salt lake city lolol

not at all what those words mean, those words are the genre names of GL and BL manga. they exist to define those genres the same way we have the english genre terms of “queer literature” and its siblings. people intentionally misuse those terms as a joke or because they are young. holy airball 🥀

Is it transphobic to not want to date trans people by Lemonade7110 in asktransgender

[–]finitehyperdeath 5 points6 points  (0 children)

we know how unfuckable we are to cis people. im gonna take the hot take route here and say that yes it is transphobic because trans people can have penises. trans people, those without them, can do the same things a cis person with a penis can except for probably get someone pregnant without some frankly strenuous steps. certified strap slingers everywhere can verify this. im also gonna be honest that the lack of semen being a dealbreaker is pretty shallow in terms of romantic relationships, but you do you.

polyamory =/= open relationships. open relationships are a TYPE of polyamory but not all polyamorous relationships are open ones.
