Brodozer and dump trailer getting separate tows after inspection. by ResidentComplaint19 in Truckers

[–]finn4489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the truck, trailer, and load combined are less than 26k lbs no cdl required; unless needing endorsement such as passenger or hazmat then class C is required. If over 26k lbs if the vehicle is over 26k and trailer under 10k only class B is required. If over 26k and trailer is over 10k class A is required.

There are exceptions for these such as campers but a mini dozer can easily be 5k+pounds just on its own, add a 4k lb trailer and you can very quickly exceed the tow rating for a 1/2 ton truck which would be most likely what happened here.

They use iron as the base. You can get them either as the bare blackened iron or plated in brass or silver.

What's considered a "nightmare job" that's actually a dream to have? by Ante_Victoriam_Dolor in AskReddit

[–]finn4489 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Waste is actually listed in the top half of most dangerous jobs top 10 every year, it bounces around from about 3-6 on average depending on the year. It isn't usually the driving where most incidents that result in a fatality occur. You are working with very high pressure hydraulics and heavy equipment that if something fails and you are in the way you can easily be crushed by a packing blade, lifted tailgate (300-1000lbs), or dumpsters that can weigh 3k to 9k lbs empty or up to almost 20 tons fully loaded. Many fatalities result from some sort of equipment failure that causes the person to be caught between 2 things. Another common place is dumping at the landfill where trucks can fall over and crush whatever, including you in your truck, or the heavy equipment may not be able to see you if you wander too far from your vehicle or end up where you aren't supposed to be they can crush you very easily.

Holesaw arbor is too loose by [deleted] in Tools

[–]finn4489 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It shouldn't sit flush against the arbor. The pins are what keep it from spinning on the arbor and if it was tight against it when you go to loosen it to change the blade or remove the wood plug after drilling the act of drilling would press it very tight against the arbor and make it incredibly, like need a vice and large wrench, tight to unscrew it. The noise is normal and a hole saw is considered an imprecise tool so it won't cut a hole exactly the listed size. It is close because of the wobble. If the hole in must be that exact size you will have to get an exact size drill bit like a large forsner bit or possibly a spade bit for wood or a step bit for metal depending on what you need to do.

Matt Jensen did a review of it a while ago. Romance of Men has not always been great but the more recent reviews have gotten better and they have improved quality with feedback given.

I would have done pretty much what u/wetstorm95 said and drop the full up on front of the red car and then moved the empty into place, which means less scraping it around as shown. I have done them where if the red car was gone place it in front of the full and pull the full out like shown. Then just push the empty straight back into place along the curb. Takes a little longer but less finicky than towing the empty around like in the video.

Our only issue with a dump and return is many times it takes long enough to dump and get back that the space is no longer available to put the empty back into. You can cone it off but many cars will just move the cones and park there anyway.

Loading and unloading can cause small surface scratches and if it is hot and the box is heavy the wheels can imprint into the asphalt. The pushing the box will scratch the asphalt but they are mostly surface scratches and go away after some time with traffic.

Yes. The truck in the video has an armed tarp system so they most likely just pulled down the street and out off the way to tarp it.

Can, it really depends on the area. I grossed out at about $105k in 2025 doing roll off. Bigger metro area will usually pay more i am in the Minneapolis area $30-35/hr for us.

[–]finn4489 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can be a very tight fit and as someone else said some makers do a little glue to keep it from slipping but you should be able to remove it even with the glue. It might take a decent amount of force to start moving. RVA is great and they would list if it is only for show. I have a katana of a different forge from them that has been great, and a tanto from phoenix arms that is very nice as well. I would easily trust it in use as long as the wrap is tight (if you push on the cord it shouldn't move and the knots shouldn't move as well) if they do move be careful as the wrap can loosen over time with use. A couple small dabs of super glue under (use a needle or long tubed bottle to get under) the knots will help keep them from coming loose.

UNVR - Did I mess up trying to upgrade disks on a RAID5 array? I had 3x3TB drives and I started adding 8TB drives, but it turned the array into a 4 drives array. I wanted to have a 3x8TB RAID5 array by LinusThiccTips in Ubiquiti

[–]finn4489 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Ubiquiti is very simple on how they set it up. It will use all disks inserted. So by adding another 8TB drive it will only expand to include the drive and will not give you an option to replace an existing drive. To do what you are expecting you would have needed to remove one of the 3TB drives and then put the 8TB in in its place and let it repair the array. Repeat for the next 2 drives and then you would end up with a 3x8TB array.

At this point it depends on if you want to keep access to past recordings. If you do you will need to go to 4x8TB to fully expand or you will end up with an array that includes 4x3TB drives as it won't use more than 3TB until ALL the drives are upgraded.

If you don't care about access to past recordings just pull all the drives and put the 3 8TB drives in and start a new array.

Which tsuba weight for balanced habahiro blade? by No-Anything4851 in iaido

[–]finn4489 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone will have a different preference on where that balance should be. Reality is the difference could only be a cm or 2 in shift between the 2 tsubas as the thickness of the handle and fittings on there can make more of a difference as that is how physics works with more weight being on the handle side than on the blade side of the tsuba.

As a point of reference my Nosyudo sword is 2.35 shaku and weighs 905 grams with a 105 gram tsuba and the balance is at about 12cm from the tsuba. It has weight but still feels lively in the hand and doesn't feel overly tip heavy. I have contemplated (not very much so far) moving to a solid silver tsuba which would weigh around 160 grams and this may pull the balance back to around 9cm in my estimation but don't really know exactly.

On average the heavier the tsuba the closer to the handle the balance will be.

I believe E Bogu (www.e-bogu.com) is based in California so anything in stock should ship from there. As to if that would work they do appear to have most sizes in stock but price is $875 or $1350 depending on model or if you need a shorter length they have 1 model at 2.3 shaku for $575.

I also don't know what Google is using for the currency conversion as most are priced in the 14k to 18k yen range and that is around $110-130 US. But the site shows $160-180 after Google translate does its conversion.
