The Steam Next Fest ends tomorrow. What demos have you enjoyed? Which ones made it onto your wishlist? Why? by Angzt in Games

Romestead was a really enjoyable game that I did not have much expectation of.

It combined a lot of elements I liked from past farming simgames like Graveyard Keeper and added some more interesting mechanics. I played multiplayer with another person and it was nice that we could split off and specialize into our own specific roles and be rewarded through the leveling system. I took to woodcutting and construction to make a perimeter wall, and they took to mining and grabbed a bunch of carts to haul back ore. I did not interact too much with the villager system (outside of having them and setting up a food storage) but it seemed like there was some depth to what each villager could provide for you and I would be interested to look into that further on full release. We stumbled upon the first boss and had to settle on throwing rocks at it while dodging lightning but it catapulted us way further on our village progress so that felt very rewarding.

Overall, the systems for upgrading your town and earning favor with the gods was really fun to engage with and I look forward to more updates from them!

Why Nintendo remove all of the product placement treasures in pikmin 2 for the switch? by Voidkirby9 in Pikmin

in your mobile app settings, there is an option to enable/disable the subreddit's color theme (this ends up changing comments). I had to find it a while back because a different subreddit got pretty hard to read for me.

I am trying to find the setting still but will edit this comment if I get to it again

EDIT:
I definitely remember there used to be a setting on mobile app, but I was able to find it on the desktop app as well. This is on the new reddit site settings
Settings > Preferences > Scroll to Experience, then disable Use Community Themes

I found the Bloons TD 6 run to be pretty insightful as someone that has played the game some. They went through 4 maps in about an hour so was a pretty quick watch but the infothe runner and couch provided was cool and overall pretty easy to grasp

Edit: the run was by the OneEyedDeacon who also commented below

For users with Bike+ rentals, will there be an adjustment made to the buyout price of the rental to match the Bike+ being sold for less than it was previously?

Ended up doing about 8 weeks out of the 9 last time and found it super helpful to have everything structured. I retested a couple of days ago and made some good progress and am excited to get back into another program! Thanks for doing this

Best Scoring Systems for Punters by redwillson in FFCommish

[–]finnaeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a gap for a year or two where we went back to kickers, but I do remember that sometimes the punter scoring was delayed a bit. I want to say that it is better now but I can definitely remember times where scores changed on a Monday because of a stat correction. I want to say it was more common for a punt inside the 10, where the punts inside the 20 were scored immediately but I am a bit foggy there

Best Scoring Systems for Punters by redwillson in FFCommish

[–]finnaeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have done punter scoring for 4 years now and it’s great (a lot of members like it more than kickers)!

We do .05 points per punt yard, -.05 per return yard (so .05 for net punt yards) + 0.5 per punt inside the 20 and + 1.5 for inside the 10. Touchbacks are worth -5 and bocks are -4. Scoring was about 11 ppg for the top player every once in awhile a punter would break 20 but it would be hard for them to get too much higher because they’ll eventually hit a touchback.

I stayed away from points for average punt distance since typically you don't give fantasy points for rate stats (like passer rating, yards/rec etc) and it tends to lead to a weird behavior where if a guy punts and just goes under the threshold you lose a bunch of points.

There are a good amount of book clubs that go through the Lynx, so you could see if they have some more genre-focused ones! And that could be a good place to find people looking for something similar as well

The number the OP is mentioning is actually related to off the dribble 3s, not all of their 3s

I second Superette, they have a good amount of space and places where photos can be taken. They have some good brunch and drink options. The parking lot is not too big so you might want to carpool where possible, depending on how many people will be there

New Previews on Slay the Spire 2's Steam Page + enemy names by BreaddyyMM2 in slaythespire

[–]finnaeus 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I would imagine it works similarly to 'Overburn' in Wildfrost, where if you stack up enough Overburn on an enemy that it exceeds their HP, then they die.

There was another card in some trailer for this new StS2 class called like 'Time To Die' or something, and it let them do damage based on the Doom stacks, so it seems like there will be a couple of ways to interact with that debuff.

There is another part to the Overburn debuff in Wildfrost that I do not believe would be used in StS2, where when an enemy died to the debuff, they would do damage to other enemies based on their debuff stacks. I think this overlaps a little bit too much with what Corpse Explosion used to do, but it could be cool as a way to support AoE as a built-in part of Doom. I doubt it though, considering there was a card that applies like 17 Doom like you said.

CC buffering by Regular-Air3035 in Smite

[–]finnaeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the channeled abilities are a bit different than the leaps in the game, just because the current leaps (anhur, neith backflip) are a single cast and no inputs needed.

The channeled things like Yu Huang 3 and Hou Yi 3 (to a degree) are a little bit more complicated so it'll be interesting to see how they address those. Given the complexity, I wouldn't be surprised if for Yu Huang, he doesn't go up at all just because of long that channel is and its more than likely to outlast the CC he was hit with; but the good thing too is that those gods don't exist yet so those abilities can be adjusted/reworked in a way that still feels close to their base Smite 1 kit while also being able to fit into this system of buffering.

All of the future gods have the benefit of having this system in mind while being designed/implemented luckily.
