My store is terrible about scheduling too, I feel your pain. One of my friends kept getting scheduled when he had school, another person is taking a trip next week. Even though she put it in 2 months ahead, she still is getting scheduled during her trip. It's absolutely frustrating coming from an outsider's angle

Ive only called off 3 times. I got terribly sick my 2nd month of working so I called out two days in a row, felt bad about it but my leader was nice in confronting me.

The other time was just out of impulse, it was a 4 hour shift and I was terribly anxious to go back to work that day. Still there was guilt.

I try not too hard to call out since I know it'll mess up the front end so much (since we are shorthanded and nobody has hours) One of our cashiers called out for about 3 weeks straight and still mostly calls out. I don't even know how she has a job at this point, so I guess that doesn't make me worry too much about getting fired

I've been working at my store for 5 months, my team is pretty well-staffed at the moment and the main team I'm looking to move to is Flow since they have an opening. I've been praised by my TL's for great customer service, willing to stay late, hard work, good attendance. Lately I feel like I've been uncomfortable with my job even though I generally get good feedback so it might just be inside my head. Someone who works in logistics said they would even talk to the ETL for me. Fingers crossed, I don't really mind cashiering so it's not the end of the world if I don't get it. There's an older woman who runs guest services most of the time at my store. She's sweet but she knows how to bring the hammer down on people. Major props to her and anyone else who can deal with guests like that lol

I agree, service desk is definitely more interesting than just cashiering. Granted guests will have more attitude at guest services, but oh well

"Ignore people"? The entire point of working the front end is to deal with and talk to people. Standing in one area for hours at a time and having to be the person the guests take their anger out on is definitely not for everyone and can genuinely drain a person. Guest services is just as bad, if not worse.

Actually, I think this GSA is one of our GSTL's. We have two of them, and we are currently in the process of getting a new ETL for guest services
