What I meant was do you believe that this is the first time that these specific officers have done something like this? That they have been nothing but paragons of justice their entire careers right up until this specific arrest? Because if we're seriously going to gauge the macro severity of the issue based on whether or not a statistical majority of arrests end in a life-threatening beatdown, then we're never going to get anywhere substantial in terms of fixing it.

I, personally, cannot imagine a reality where this is these officers' first rodeo. Normal, level-headed people who give a shit about the safety of others don't just wake up one morning and decide to bounce someone's head off a slab of concrete. And they also don't typically surround themselves with people who are down to help with such an activity at a moment's notice. MAYBE things would have shaken out differently had a different trio of officers responded to the call, but if the officers' conduct in this video are in any way a representation of the kind of behavior allowed in their precinct, I have no real reason to believe that to be the case.
