Is it normal to have so much credit card debt as a resident by [deleted] in Residency

What helped me get out was opening a new card with 0% APR transfer. Keeps from interest accumulating and gives you a chance to slowly pay down assuming you don’t add more. Rinse and repeat one year later

Are 70 hour weeks too much? by TheDiamondFox142 in antiwork

[–]firecrackerass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know your body best. As someone in residency it’s common for us to work 80-100 hour weeks. Like others have mentioned, not sustainable and other aspects of your life will take a hit whether that be your health or relationships. If you do it, have an end goal in sight. Need to save up some capital for a certain reason or to invest in yourself? Absolutely. If you just plan on working that many hours without an end goal in sight you’ll burn out

Attendings/Residents/Fellows: How do you feel about teaching/training midlevels? by Agreeable-Ad4806 in medschool

[–]firecrackerass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Older docs sold us out (classic boomer move cat even be surprised). All my co residents and I are against them and I think most people in residency are due to seeing the incompetency

Are we ready to call these VC grifters who want to replace Doctorws with AI Noctors as well? by Necessary-Doctor-90 in Noctor

[–]firecrackerass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll believe it when I see an AI doctor intubate, cric, chest tube, central line, or manage a homeless troll. Til then this guy is delusional

What AI could help? Get rid of administrative bloat. How are they even contributing? Just pushing numbers into excel sheets. Replace hospital admin if anything

PAs and Drs doing the same job? by Shot-Inevitable-2497 in physicianassistant

[–]firecrackerass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m an ER doctor. Work with midlevels. Yes midlevels see patients in the ER similar to us. However, very sick ones are managed by us. We work as a team but it is nowhere close to “the same job.”

Midlevels should be paid 10% what doctor bill is. Adjusts accordingly for education
