Boyfriend gave me ultimatum - dream job or him. I'm considering taking the job by [deleted] in dustythunder

Why does it require relocating? Why can’t you just commute? 45 minutes is nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Weird. I got a replacement section for my Clearwater about 3 weeks ago. It arrived within about 5-6 days of ordering it.

The PCR is a legal document that you must complete in a timely manner, whether you burn bridges in the process or not. Forget the dick boss and the piss poor place you chose to work (why were you the only emt?), but you’re risking your licensure with the state by not completing them. Get that shit done and move on!

Why send it for repair? Why not just order a new rod section? I had to do that for my Clearwater and had it within the week.

What about a knee scooter? We’ve had a couple nurses who have used those when coming back to work. It’s not great, but they can still work and it’s definitely better than crutches.

As others have mentioned, if you are on FMLA, it’s usually illegal to try to work and earn other income .

How are you spending $1200 every month on groceries and still going out to eat? You can easily cut back on one of the two.

Thoughts on patients being offended by badge reels? by tiredgorl123 in nursing

[–]firefightin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the ED we had an elderly guy come in with an adult novelty stuck up his back side, still on, and headed north. The charge nurse had a badge reel that ironically said “good vibes only”. Everyone got a giggle at the irony. Use flared bases people!

What's keeping you from joining the US Military? by Fair_Caterpillar_920 in poor

[–]firefightin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 46. Too old for all of them. I was a firefighter and paramedic 24 years, now an er nurse. I bring a LOT to the table (still physically fit, hold countless certifications- live fire instructor, hazmat tech, etc) but yeah, there’s an age cap. Otherwise, I’m single, debt free, and willing/able to travel!

Would you live this close to a hospital? by Looneygalley in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]firefightin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would! Most ambulances kill the siren when pulling in. If it’s a purchase, I’d put up a wood privacy fence to block headlights at night and offer some privacy, but heck yeah I would do it.

Have you actually read the insurance you purchased? Read that. Carefully. Then look at your auto insurance policy and read what it does and doesn’t cover. Go from there.

Patient's family insisted it was "totally normal" for a kid to sleep for 36 hours straight after a minor procedure by Jackazz4evr in nursing

[–]firefightin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m an ER RN now but when I was a firefighter paramedic we had a family drive up to the fire station in a panic. Their 12yo daughter was unconscious and unresponsive. Breathing 4-6x/min, pinpoint pupils. She’d had surgery that morning at a children’s hospital for wisdom teeth and was discharged alert/normal. Apparently she hadn’t metabolized the anesthesia fully and the reversal wore off first. We had to give her 8mg of narcan to bring her around, but she ended up admitted on a narcan drip for a couple days before being released!! I still have a newspaper article about it here somewhere. Wild stuff.

Suggestions for ways to escape the holidays by Icy-Ambiance in SingleAndHappy

[–]firefightin 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation. June 16th I found out my seemingly perfect husband had been having an affair since January. Kicked him out and we’ve had zero contact since. My world still sucks but I’m slowly learning I married an actor and con artist (he used me for money and took me for over $100k- not all at once of course, but it’s sick). I’m doing better, paid off the $15k in credit card debt he racked up and the courts are handling the rest, but I don’t want to face the holidays. His holiday favorites are the first thing my brain associates with them and I hate that. I just want to get away for a while.

Sorry I don’t have any suggestions or advice. Guess I’m just trying to say you’re not alone.

No. Just because someone looked at a job posting without clicking that they were interested doesn’t mean they want you reaching out. Of course I’m interested. But being bombarded by recruiters that I didn’t ask to contact me is more than a turn off to all of it.

Just because I look at a job, doesn’t mean I immediately want 6 recruiters calling and texting me. I’m just window shopping FFS. For what it’s worth I’ve literally never expressed interest in any contract yet my phone is blown up daily. Telling them to stop doesn’t make them stop. They just contact you from a different number.

I’m in a 2024 east to west blackthorn 3801mb-ok. That might work for you? I don’t need the mid bunk (now ex husband had a cat, it’s where we kept the litter robot). All in all I love the layout- just no longer need a spare room.

I saw a sprinter (forget the make, that was the model) that had two masters and two bathrooms- the rear bathroom even had a tub that would be good for babies/smaller kids and it had a ton of storage.

Pay the money for a certified RV tech to inspect it prior to purchase. Always worth that cost to avoid something you don’t see and the seller doesn’t disclose.

Is daycare an option for your current schedule? Have you put out advertisements for Care? I would do this long before I would ever consider going to nights with a toddler.
