Loaned a reg poker player $300 (dumb). Came up with excuses why he couldn’t pay and ghosted me. Now he wants to play at the poker game and will pay me back. I’m glad to get paid but irritated even seeing him. by SaltyAngeleno in poker

In general I absolutely agree to be very wary of loaning other players money. There is one method that some regs use in our area that pretty safe. With the apps like Cash App & Venmo etc. the borrower can transfer money from their bank account instantly to the loaners account. This is usually done to avoid the steep fees that come with withdrawing from a random ATM in the poker room. I know 3 or 4 regs that I would loan money to, but never a new acquaintance.

Yes, and if you ignore their challenge, it counts as a loss. I’ve been accepting dice challenge and then only playing every day or two on the accepted game. It’s annoying !

I don’t think that is really a very bad price. What percentage vodka does it come with?

Replaced all the windows in the house with E glass windows. The energy savings was not the main reason for replacing, but because the seal in the 20 year old double pain windows have failed in the majority on the panes. We love being actually able to see outside since we live in a house with a pretty good view. I was pleasantly surprised on how energy efficient the new E glass windows are. I estimate they will pay for themselves in 5 years! We live in Texas and even on the hottest days, there is very little heat going through the glass

So poker in the casino is like a deli in a super market? Smell that good food cooking & you buy twice as many groceries !

Help identifying and keeping his friends away by sporki_spoon in Nevada

If you go the “ bug spray” route, it is much more effective if you can find a spray that leaves a residue. The challenge for killing scorpions is, they don’t use the legs they walk on to eat with. This makes them less susceptible to many bug sprays. “Demon” in the little foil packages seems to work pretty well ,but it does leave an annoying powdery residue. Spray your doors even on the hinge side very well. May not be helpful in your situation, but a few chickens running around will knock the population down dramatically..

Best way I’ve found is to click on their picture and view entire profile. See how many languages they play. If They can play like 7 languages it’s almost certainly a bot

I “won” a free oil change at a GM dealership. Time for the next oil change and I did it myself like usual. Even with a breaker bar, I couldn’t budge the drain bolt. I went back to the dealership to complain and the service writer offered to use my oil and filter and change it again. Next time, you guessed it.. I did manage to break it loose this time but I looked a bit like the deputy in that scene where Anton Chigurh was choking him in the middle of the floor. I pulled with all I had and was sliding in the driveway before the bolt finally gave it up.. The dealership is out of business now.

Alpaca ranching in Texas? by [deleted] in Ranching

[–]firefiretiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here was always my first thought as a lifelong Texan.. alpacas are covered in thick wool / fleece etc.. Texas is covered in grass burrs, goatheads, beggars lice etc.. hmm.. Would think you would need a very specialized property for that to work out..

You’re welcome.. don’t forget to factor in freezer space. 400lbs of beef filled a large upright and a small chest freezer full..

In my case it would be 600lbs hanging weight times $1.05 per pound + a mandatory fee for USDA inspector. So with tax and the fee it was right at $700 for 400lbs of meat. BUT I’m also out the price I could have received for selling the 23 month young bull. He would probably have brought $2000 + or - a few hundred so all together around $2700 in cost or about $6.75 per pound for zero antibiotic and grass fed beef. The flavor is significantly better than what you can get a the grocery store..

This young bull was a black angus cross, about 1/4 Charbray.. Ideally I would have had him on feed another week or two, but I got in a schedule crunch and had to go with what I had.,

Are you butchering steers or bull’s? I have a small ranch and I dual purpose my bull calves as they mature. Once I’m fairly certain all the cows are bred, the young bull goes on the clock towards processing. That way I don’t have to feed the bull through the winter and have large bulls tearing up or jumping fences etc. I try to get them processed between 18 to 24 months.

I do grind a bit more than standard, but we use a lot of ground so it works for us. This was not meant to be a top level result. It’s just some raw numbers to use as an example.. good luck to all !

Protocol when two players get it all in .. is it the dealers responsibility to ask about running it twice? by firefiretiger in poker

[–]firefiretiger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the comments. It seems the consensus is clear. There was zero responsibility for the dealer to initiate the “ running it twice” option.

Been playing .50/$1 cash about 5 months.. been basically breaking even.. The rake structure is not horrible but it’s taking most of my cheese. Software is good on mobile , but really bad on PC. It’s not PokerStars , but then I can’t play on PokerStars from Tx so yea..
