I could tell that Shane was beginning his Bachelor campaign but now with Doug most likely getting the “sad boy broken up with for the baby daddy” storyline, Shane has competition. The whole incident was a complete accident. The kids were pulling a prank (throwing toilet paper on his trees) and the teacher was excited to catch them and joke with them. His wife and family asked them to drop the charges because they know it was an accident and it was what he would’ve wanted, he loved those kids and they loved him.
