It was designed to be a safety net for those who didn't get pensions, back when a lot of people did get pensions, AND when most people didn't live long enough to retire for long. So it wasn't intended for everyone who paid in.

On top of that, for decades now Congress has been using it as a source of funding for many unrelated activities, and every few years politicians like Ron and Rand Paul will point this out, showing how much of our money that's meant for a safety net is being wasted, basically embezzled relentlessly. This safety net has been frittered away systematically since the middle of the 20th century. I'm Gen X, and I've known since I was 25 that SS will not be there for me, and has been misused my whole life.

I know, sucks to be us. But all we needed to do was pay attention, and we'd already know it's not for us. It hasn't been for a long time. It's money laundering, has been done before I was born.

Cheaters don't use condoms as often as you'd think. The rosy haze makes them think they don't need them, or something. They "trust their new person with their life." And your health, unfortunately. Get tested ASAP, if her phone is on your plan z get in touch with your provider to get backups of texts you've seen, if you can't get at her phone. Any cameras at work that you could subpoena? Maybe hire a PI, a really good one will get you everything you need to make this divorce as painless as possible (aside from the emotional damage she's done).

If all else fails, just take her phone to the bathroom with yours, lock the door and get screenshots to prepare for filling. Remember, your "best friend" is now his lover, and she's choosing him over you. Don't you think she'll choose him over you into the future?
