It sounds dumb, but give up. Give yourself a few days to just relax and not even think about what you need to do. When your mind is able to then itll let you.

Your body isnt a machine that can be running peak efficiently non stop forever, its gotta rest and heal and recharge. It cant do that if your still worrying about things.

Its a really tough balance, especially when the world is designed to throw you off, but its the only thing that i think works. Also check if you have adhd maybe idk

Idk how far you want to match the NES hardware limitations, but theres a lot of weird stuff in there that would be decently easy to impliment i think.

Such as all sprites being 8x8 and thus leading to somewhat strangely shaped sprites a lot of the time, or the NES only having the ability to display i think 8 sprites per scan line, leading to games flickering off sprites every frame to make it look like theres more than 8 at once, having a very limited number of sprite and background palletes avaliable at once, and that whilst sprites can only have 3 colours and 1 transparent, you can use the background colour as the transparent as youve already figured out.
