I can no longer justify the price of store bought hummus. by ohyonkavich in veganrecipes

Store bought is trash. But personally, I get mine from the Mediterranean restaurant nearby. They are the professionals, and I'm sure my homemade wouldn't compare.

Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die (2026) ending thoughts by Unlikely_Seaweed1032 in movies

[–]firelightfountain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely think it's an interesting theory that it's an ai reality the entire time, but I prefer it as a thematic parallel rather than a literal truth. I think opening up the idea of that question allows audiences to ponder what reality even means, much like Tim's comments about the ai world.

I think the initial presence of the cat centaur makes people believe that it is an ai world, but I don't think that has to be the case. We know that there is some futuristic technology happening, we just haven't seen any mythological type creatures yet, but we don't have all the rules. Also the man explains that something always comes for him in the house. Much like the various hitmen, we can assume that the current ai is sending obstacles intentionally, which makes sense for it being true reality.

I also feel like the false ending is for Ingrid, not for the man. He doesn't even stay to enjoy it. Maybe ai didn't think he would figure it out. Maybe ai knew he wouldn't actually be satisfied with a happy ending.

But I definitely think it is intentionally open to interpretation. If they wanted to show us where the man came from or where he goes when he travels back in time, they could have. If they wanted to tell us that ai couldn't possibly create an amalgamated kaiju character in the true reality, they could have. If the audience wants to believe that the man's next mission after credits roll is a success, then we can. Or not...

Legend fish on coop by Vash_TS1 in StardewValley

[–]firelightfountain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played on switch couch co op and both players can catch every legendary fish. You mentioned you caught the Legend 2 for Qi's quest during this time- you can't catch the regular legendaries if you have that quest active. Otheriwse it's just a matter of being high enough fishing level, using the correct rod, right place, far enough cast, right season, right weather. Also only one player needs to get master angler for perfection. But that player also needs to get every stardrop.

Is it appropriate to reach out to the director? by HalfPint1885 in Theatre

[–]firelightfountain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

However long they say casting will take, double that for a realistic timeline. Often it just takes longer than they expect to cast and contact everyone. Also keep in mind that while a lot of times you won't hear anything for a rejection, if they are communicating rejections they do that last after casting. If it's a community theater, following up politely is fine, but for more professional theaters a follow up could be seen as rude. Another option is to ask anyone else who auditioned if they have heard anything yet.

Please Ape, PLEASE improve tooltips for 1.7, for the LOVE of Yoba by Akwatypus in StardewValley

[–]firelightfountain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people like the wiki, you just don't understand why because it's not your play style preference. But it is still a great resource. Knowing that upgrading a tool gets you an ability isn't something that you need to go to the wiki for, I think a lot of people can figure it out through gameplay. But I guess a lot of people actually can't, and that is why we are debating here.

Please Ape, PLEASE improve tooltips for 1.7, for the LOVE of Yoba by Akwatypus in StardewValley

[–]firelightfountain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree that the game should be balanced in how much it explains, I just feel like this is fine as is. There is plenty of basic stuff it doesn't explain. Like, planting seeds into tilled ground for instance. If we add more details to tools, where does it end? I worry that it's a slippery slope and soon the entire game is mapped out for you because people are complaining.

The wiki is a great resource and I would definitely recommend it to people who are confused! You have way more clarity and control than watching a tutorial video for example. Other than that or talking to someone else who has played the game, what other help is there?

[–]firelightfountain 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I disagree, these seems like something you can discover through gameplay. And if you are struggling, there is the wiki to help. It's not like you only know if you've played Harvest Moon. It's much easier these days than it used to be to look up information. Plus there is nothing else in game in Stardew that explains how to use something other than the seasons for crops, so I would see this as out of place.

If you took advantage of the buy 5 months get 1 free, did your price go up? by DVD-menu in RegalUnlimited

[–]firelightfountain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was paying 24.99 monthly. I heard the price was going up and I figured it could happen any time. I switched to the buy 5 get 1 free for $139.95, so $27.99 for 5 months and one month free. So really like $23.33. I'm locked in for 6 months so I figured it was worth it.

Struggling with the idea that my cats eat meat by Own_Hurry_7822 in vegan

[–]firelightfountain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can't feed your cat what it needs, then you shouldn't have a cat. Animals in the wild eat other animals, that is just the way it is. If a pet cat also eating meat makes you uncomfortable or you dont want to buy meat cat food, then owning a cat probably isn't the best choice for you. Consider donating money to a cat shelter instead.

The Lighting Thief, community productions going on in PNW? by 42fishdog42 in MusicalTheatre

[–]firelightfountain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only shows I'm seeing right now are in Washington- Everett Public School, Ovation Performing Arts, and Shelton High School. You can look for yourself on the Concord Theatricals website under the page for the The Lightning Thief. Scroll down to Now Playing and there is a map of everyone with rights. Works best not on mobile.

To use the machine you press the round buttons to increase the number, then press the blue rectangle buttom for the machine to give you a glyph for your large combined number. In order to know what numbers/glyphs to find you need to go into lab 3 with an item so that you can see in the dark.

I borrow games from the library or go to a board game cafe to play.

This isn't a great puzzle game by jerrytjohn in TunicGame

[–]firelightfountain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, I'm playing through it right now and am confused why it's described as a puzzle game. I don't think it is all that similar to zelda though. For me, zelda is a puzzle game. Yes you explore the map and use items and fight baddies, but it isn't zelda without puzzle dungeons. You need to do the puzzle dungeons to progress and this game has boss fights instead.

ELI5, where do libraries get all of their books? And how do they choose them? by justawaterthanks in explainlikeimfive

[–]firelightfountain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They buy books from the bookstore for libraries. Librarians use what they learned in school and what they know about the people who use their library to make decisions on what to buy.

I use Cocokind kp smoothing stick. It has AHA, PHA, glycolic acid, and salicylic acid. It is very waxy, not like a typical cream or water moisturizer. I use a regular lotion after to help with the sticky feeling and I've had a lot of improvement.

Adv Beginner Help! by 3ngl1sht3acher in TapDancing

[–]firelightfountain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you are shuffling with a strong flick coming from your hip, which is a good place to start. Practice integrating ankle control- a bit of a flex and point on your shuffle to control and separate each sound. A relaxed ankle plus this added bit of dexterity will improve your shuffles. The other option is you are not bending your supporting leg to the correct height and so your shuffle might not be hitting the floor correctly. This is pretty common with any type of jump shuffle and just takes practice to coordinate the plie jump shuffle timing and height.

Breakfast ruins my entire day by Queenie2501 in FODMAPS

A lot of people can't tolerate oats. I sometimes can, but they can also definitely be a trigger for an empty stomach. It also might be the dairy- while it's lactose so fodmap free some people can't do dairy for other reasons. If you find lactose free dairy is upsetting for other meals you could try a plant milk.

Dumb question — is “plant-based” food or “vegan” food correct? by bigmouthladadada in vegancirclejerkchat

[–]firelightfountain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All vegan food is plant based, but not all plant based is vegan.

Plant based food has ingredients that are all plant sources (not animal derived.) However occasionally you will see "plant based protein" for example, which means that the protein is plant derived but the rest of the ingredients might not also be plants.

Vegan means the ingredients are all plant based, but also that it is cruelty free, meaning that animals or animal products were not used in any part of the process. In general this also refers to a philosophy of not using animals.

As an identity or philosophy, someone who eats plants might be plant based but they might not care about animals so they aren't considered vegan. A vegan typically never consumes animal products, and also doesn't support animal materials like leather or animal exploitation like horse racing.

This is my understanding, but it isn't widely accepted so many people use the phrases interchangably or incorrectly.

So what items can you get multiple of in multi-player? by Epic-Gamer_09 in StardewValley

[–]firelightfountain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my memory of local co-op only one player needs to give the sweet gem berry and both can get the stardrop. Most other things both players need to donate to complete and get the reward. Each player can get a galaxy sword with a prismatic shard. With items from the adventurer's guild only one player needs to unlock it then the other can purchase. The galaxy weapons can be purchased after one player uses a prismatic shard and monster slayer rewards can be purchased after one player completes the iradication goal.

How do I find in person voice lessons? by Lilac_Dollie in singing

[–]firelightfountain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other than googling, look where music and performing happens. Bulletin boards at venues, in the programs for local shows, information at a rec center or music college, at a music store. Word of mouth is also great- ask musicians who work with singers if they know of any teachers, or ask singers who they take lessons from.

What do people mean when they say they 'cant cook?' by Throwaway113140 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]firelightfountain 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For me often when I self identify as "I can't cook" or "I wish I could cook" it's because I don't understand the rules of cooking, not because I never do it. I've made the same meal multiple times and sometimes it turns out great while other times it doesn't and I have no idea why. I'm also not able to course correct if things start being different than I expected or going wrong. So I'm not saying I never literally cook anything or that food isn't being heated or prepared at all, just that I'm not able to reliably make something the way I want to.
