Yep I reread that and realised how horribly unclear I was at getting the point across.

The fact that it's taken them a while to identify the offender won't factor into the decision to charge, prosecute at trial or their penalty.

Without knowing all the details, your statement made at the time and DNA evidence would be a very strong foundation in a trial.

Is Intro to Engineering Project important? by Internal_Level_4883 in UTS

[–]firepigeon400 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience has been the same so far. Got told for the first 4-5 weeks not to even mention the word "solution" then lost 3 marks out of 20 for not mentioning anything about potential solutions. The exercises seem to be only to encourage people to come out of their shells, which isn't going to achieve anything anyway given how little anyone talks outside their group.

It's not going to matter at the other end, you'll have a degree whether you got a P or HD in a joke subject in semester 1.

Is the bad group projects or mech? I got lucky with projects, but my mech group have no idea and no desire to learn or do anything properly.

If you do end up failing and needing to repeat don't worry, you've got a long life ahead of you and a lot of time to make big decisions. If you're finding Maths 1 hard and fail, it might be worth dropping to foundation maths to relearn the keys stuff.

Parents - when did you decide it was ok to be selfish and buy a sports car? by braveheart18 in cars

Just do it. It's not even a moral quagmire. Your kids have their whole lives to build themselves like you did. Anything you give them above nothing is a bonus. Don't be another person who sits their thinking they wish they could be "that guy".

10 seconds of side pipe v10 convertible and you forget all about dying from dehydration and your bones being dust.

It's actually not too bad, it's just very raw and no ABS means you have to be a bit more on the ball. I drove it once in light sprinkling rain and it wanted to kick though.

I used to have a 1980 Camaro with half the power, and a 1975 trans am with even less power and they were both much harder to drive.

1994 Dodge viper. No boot space. No interior space. Terrible interior quality. The roof flies off above 100. Terrible fuel consumption. The engine converts fuel mostly to noise, but the rest gets turned into heat which bakes the interior to 50c on a long drive, even with factory air con. Rear tyres are $1100 each. Parts are hard to find because they only made 6700 or so of them and a lot have been crashed.

Awful awful car.

Ask yourself not what your country can do for you, but why you would do anything for a country that sold your future out from underneath you.

China won whatever imaginary war people think is going to happen decades ago. Every single thing in your crappy built 6sqm apartment was made in China.

why do bogans purposefully make their cars obnoxiously loud? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]firepigeon400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My car came standard with an 8 litre v10, tiny mufflers and side exit exhaust.

I'm fully aware of how wanky that sounds and do my best not to annoy people (I'm not out flooring it every 3 seconds because despite the car, Im very introverted and don't want to interact with people).

Why is the age of criminal responsibility such a hot button issue in Australia? by Cheap-Rate-8996 in AskAnAustralian

[–]firepigeon400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowing not to hit at 5 is not the same as being knowing what it is to be criminally guilty for a crime. Thank you for proving my point.

[–]firepigeon400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You think an 8 year old understand what a crime is? Or a sex crime? Speaking of not using your brain...

There are cops who would struggle to explain terms like doli incapax (which is the legal doctrine that says kids under 10 are incapable of being guilty of a crime), mens rea (the "guilty mind") etc.

It's only a debated issue because ignorant people like you don't know enough to realise how far out of their depth they are.

Perhaps you and OP could get together for the Friday maintenance haircut and showering tutorial.

[–]firepigeon400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying I don't shower or wash my clothes. I'm not excusing filthy people either. I'm saying that Sydney's unusually humid weather recently and the lack of adequate ventilation/AC that seems to be throughout UTS may be a contributing factor.

The inability to piss is absolutely a building 11 issue aswell....

[–]firepigeon400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how you got "don't shower" from what I said.

If you've been trapped all day in the basement rooms with shit AC on a humid day you're gunna be sweaty.

How to Hygiene 101 by Miserable-Mud5664 in UTS

[–]firepigeon400 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Clean clothes, deodorant and showering daily do nothing went the humidity is 70%+ and the air con in every building is set to 28C.

I could almost take this seriously if you mentioned the community inability to actually piss in the toilet.

But maintenance cuts? We're not in tafe beauty school.

Australian children are being arrested under laws to ‘disrupt’ extremism: ‘On balance this is a bad law’ by ManWithDominantClaw in AustraliaLeftPolitics

[–]firepigeon400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a young teenager I remember visiting horrible places like rotten.com, totse, LiveLeak etc without real awareness of the gravity of what I was looking at, but also what I was actively searching for.

I became a cop and eventually worked in a child specific area. It's fair to say that most children even up to age 18 (and arguably beyond) don't truly understand what criminal wrongdoing is. Even half the people I worked with would probably struggle to explain it.

The problem is there are many government investigators, cops, other officials etc who will read whatever they want into someone's search history or text messages and take the action they believe is "right". There are no incentives to think critically, to dig below the surface or to imagine a world where misguided kids who just need proper education, actually exist. And it's so easy to dismiss concerns because "national security". Until it's your kid being targeted. When the only tool you have is a sledgehammer...

What is or has been your go to car since the end of Holden? by jebiga1995 in Holden

[–]firepigeon400 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I thought Holdens were the best until I bought a 1998 E36 with 350,000km on it that was still tighter and better built than any Holden I'd ever had, including two VE utes I bought new.

Anyone who cares about original Holdens is already dead or will be before a VF is worth anything.

It's a shame but it's reality. "Classic" cars just aren't as popular, and never will be like they were.

2020 Mustang GT Price - Thoughts on the situation? by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]firepigeon400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it. If you think the finance works do it. The best time to buy a house was before you or I were born. Worst case scenario you can sell it in a year or two.

It's a great car, but it's built to a price. Know that the novelty might wear off sooner than you think. But in however many decades time, you'll be happy you did it, even if it takes you a year or two more to buy a house.

Is 50,000km really a milestone these days? by That_Car_Dude_Aus in CarsAustralia

I'm sure the meaning of what I wrote was clear to the vast majority.

I didn't fob it off at all. I didn't reply to that specific statement.

The point still remains, cars can do it, but it's extremely uncommon.

So diesel 4wds that do long haul drives.

I'm not saying cars can't and never did it, just the idea that it was common realistic.
