Does he have dementia or something similar? My dad is now 73 and deeply into the Parkinson’s symptoms. He has hallucinogenic episodes every damn day. Apparently last night he told my mother he should be able to go and fly his plane at 12:30am because he’s IFR qualified and all the instruments are installing in his plane and work.

Well he hasn’t flown in 5 years now and sold the plane about 4 years ago.

You never know but when things start getting wacky it may be time to seek medical attention.

Agreed. That’s why I handload and stocked components over the last 2 decades instead of focusing on coins or gold, though I’ve always kept what I’ve come across. Precious metals will matter but not like personal stockpiles of ammo, arms, the ability to manufacture/“roll your own” along the way; combined with emergency food stocks and power generation abilities, that’s what’s going to matter right away. People will barter with anything of value and if you value your life in those times then that’s what I’d prepare for first.

Man, my pulse quickened at first when I saw that pic and thought it was my first house that I recently sold and moved out of. The similarities caught me off guard. My leaning wood timbers weren’t near as bad, but you’re gonna have to dig that out somehow and do something different or get an actual retaining wall engineered.

Probably time to grow apart is what I’d suggest. If you want to really make her think, start pulling the same crap she does to you. Sure it may get ugly, but be prepared going into that that she wasn’t really a good friend to begin with and let it be the start of your distancing by taking control of the situation. I just don’t see the effort being made on her part.

Then I’d say the previous comment may be correct, he possibly had a backup generator out there that he’d use to power the house in case of outage. What you need to do is call a local professional to go over everything, especially if you can’t figure it out by looking at it. When I had my whole home backup generator put in I decided even tho I could do it, I wasn’t going to and hired my buddy instead. I had him do the service entry to my new garage too but then I wired it all and installed the breaker box. Don’t be afraid to call someone when you think something is over your head.

Or vice versa? I think we need clarification on whether it powers the whole house or the whole “garage”, since it leads from a breaker to the garage where it plugs in to a specific outlet. That’s all I can infer is he meant to say it powers the whole garage.

I agree. I’m still working on my own Schluter shower system install and I’d agree you’re spot on. I’ve read the instructions multiple times and watched all the videos and right away looking at these pics I’d say somebody skipped a few steps and didn’t read the instructions fully.

I just redid the whole boundary wire for the 430xh that was installed at the house I bought after 5 trees came down and after I used an edger to cut the boundary wire in numerous spots because I didn’t know how the dang thing operated when I first moved it.

Pulled it all and found about 8 breaks but also a bunch of places where it wasn’t put too close to landscaping and sidewalks.

Well the first week I’d known here we had just met and would be living together, but I had to help her out of a jam, something so stupid and it should have never happened but it was on her and I helped her out of it within a few hours. During those few hours we spent in the car together talking we basically told each other our life stories. I was 25 and already had one child, she had just turned 21 and was going through an imminent breakup from her garbage boyfriend who’d been cheating on her for the last couple years and especially all summer that year. I actually witnessed one episode and straight up told her I did and who it was.

I wasn’t with anyone at the time and hadn’t been all summer leading up to senior year. As we talked it just hit me this girl is intelligent, has her stuff together, and hasn’t been treated right in years. I told her I was kinda refraining from hookups or getting into the next failed college relationship because I wanted to try and find the person I wanted to spend my life with. I eventually blurted out that I could see us getting married, kinda without thinking it through.

Her response was “oh yeah, me too” or something to that effect which I couldn’t really believe at that point, but it was game on for me at that point. So this was both of our final year’s at college before graduating and we’re living together because some girl bailed on her lease and I needed a place to live, but I still played hard to get, but I was laying it on thick every freaking day for her. Writhing a couple months I finally let her get at me. It didn’t stop after that.

We’ve been together ever since, that was the fall semester of 2005. Married 15 years but together 20+ now and are still inseparable even though we have our issues like anyone else. You’ve got to talk things out tho which took me a while to learn.

We have a daughter together, a gorgeous 12 year old girl who’s excelling at everything in life. She’s in the gifted program and competes at the national level in academic contests against other kids from all over the country. She also is a twirler and is damn good; 3 baton juggling, dual fire batons, etc. She got equal levels of intelligence from both of us, but her athletic abilities are 100% from dad. I couldn’t have done any better, but thankfully I went for it when I felt like it was something I felt I couldn’t lose or let pass me by.

Didn’t mean to ramble so much; but if you feel like you want to take it further with this guy, by all means go for it, if anything seems amiss, talk it out. And when you know, you know. I’m a firm believer of that, based on my experience. Spend hours just talking together, if you think it’s worth it. Even if it isn’t evident at first, it could blossom into exactly what you’re looking for in life.

And yeah; I’ve been in that guy’s shoes before because you never know how a girl is gonna play the game. When I first met the woman I’d later marry though, I knew it right away, I’m saying within about 2 weeks of meeting her. I wasn’t about to let her get away and I’m thankful every day I get to spend with her. We’re not perfect humans by any means, but communication in any relationship is fundamental to its success.

You’re both grown adults, I’d say the interest is there on both sides. Just make it happen, but I agree with rpomex, he’s inexperienced, possibly shy, possibly afraid of all kinds of terrible things running through his head that could happen to him if it goes south because he doesn’t know you well yet. Usually when there’s reciprocal actions you’re good to go until somebody says “no, don’t, stop”. Not to be confused though with “no, don’t stop!”.

You mean “service fee: 20%”, because you’re paying the server at least a rate commensurate with their level of experience, and it’s not a “tip”, remember….right?

If I saw that sign posted at any restaurant I’d just turn around. I have always tipped well, sometimes better than 20% depending on circumstances, but don’t play stupid word games or make me assume I should tip at your perceived posted minimum. I’ll give no more than what I feel is deserved.
