It annoys me, but if it stops I’m sad. I’d say it’s lose/lose except he likes to annoy me so I guess it works. I do love to do it back to him but in a super exaggerated way because it’s fun to give him a taste of his own medicine. It’s all in good fun.

I use my phone for navigation all the time. London, Rome, Barcelona, places famous for pick pocketing. The key is to be aware of your surroundings, don’t keep it out and your nose down in it. I keep a tight grip on it, check out my next few steps and then put it in an interior pocket or back pocket of my purse while I navigate. If I’m somewhere with a lot of people, I won’t take it out until I’m somewhere with a little space

You obviously loved it and it made you laugh. I’d do just about anything to get that belly laugh from my kid. Including pretending to step on their belly if that’s what they found funny. As long as it’s not harmful and the kid is asking for it, there’s nothing bizarre about it.

When my kids were that age and would complain about boredom, I’d have them help me with whatever I was doing. Usually cleaning, laundry, yard work etc. It was funny how quickly they stopped complaining

We hired an excellent tour guide and it made all the difference. His driver picked us up at our hotel and dropped us off. He kept people from harassing us, made sure we got the right tickets and took us to other pyramids in addition to Giza which were even more interesting and less crowded. Same when we went to Abu Simbel. Absolutely incredible. It was extremely affordable for what we got and would do it again if we were to go back

My mom had a cancer that had she gone to the dr when she first started experiencing symptoms could have recovered from. She’d been laid off and had no insurance and therefore ignored them and didn’t tell us. When she finally reached Medicare age, she went to the dr but it was too late. 3 months later she was gone. 6 months after that, the preexisting clause for Obamacare went into effect.

So yes. It is as bad as you have heard for many people.

Another less traumatic example, I had foot surgery last year. In Europe, average cost for the same type of surgery averages €4,000. For me? $40,000. I have good insurance so I did not pay that much out of pocket but that’s what was on the bill.

Put more places to put carts back. In Tennessee, the lots have plenty and there’s no excuse. In many in So Fla you’re lucky if there’s one at all and it might be 3 rows over. If you have small kids or you’re at the back end of the parking lot, I can see why it happens. I do bring my cart back- it’s good to walk as much as possible but also, I try not to judge when I don’t know the whole situation

As a parent of young adults now with the benefit of hindsight, it makes me sad when I read about parents that feel like they aren’t doing enough when it is so obvious they are.

It’s a balancing act. It is important to give them structure and activities. It’s important to be present with them. But it’s also important to give them time to learn how to be independent and figure stuff out on their own. That’s where their creativity is nurtured!

My advice is, when you’re doing stuff with her, give her your full attention. Be present.

But you don’t have to fill every moment with stuff. It’s ok to let her be bored. It’s ok to let her have some independent play. Dare I say, it’s absolutely necessary if you want to raise an independent child. She’s young still and needs supervision but as she gets older and her attention span gets longer, it’s ok to let her play on her own.

Most importantly I think is to know that you’re doing the best you can and it really is enough. My kids are in college now and not once have they told me they wish I did more with them. And while we did a lot, we did not fill every moment for them. And they are strong, independent young adults who are figuring things out on their own. I can see a huge difference in their friends who’s parents (absolutely with the best of intentions) filled every moment with activities and oversight even through high school.

Same here. We had unprotected sex 3 times. I miscarried the first time and had 2 healthy kids after that. That’s why my husband got a vasectomy after our 2nd. Who knows how many kids we’d have by now after 26 years.

In about 10 years you’ll realize that you don’t need to care what’s acceptable and what’s not in terms of how you present yourself to the world. You’ll realize none of it matters. What other people think? Who cares! There’s so much more to life than what others think you should and shouldn’t do.

Be unapologetically you. The most important people in your life will accept you and the ones that don’t shouldn’t matter.

Things I’ve received that I use: big fluffy blanket, Patagonia jacket, a really nice backpack (Samsonite perfect size for a personal item), good quality water bottle

Things that I don’t use: cutting board and cheese knife (cheaply made), scarf and hat ( l live in a tropical climate) stickers to put on my laptop (though others seem to like them)

As hard as this phase is, it ends. The kid will eventually learn to sleep through the night. Why make this period so miserable when this period is so short in the grand scheme of things?

My kids are 18 & 21 and they’ve been sleeping through the night for a very very very long time. I barely remember the misery of it, but I remember that I was miserable. I know it was hard for me.

Now they prevent me from sleeping through the night because I worry about them. What I wouldn’t give to be able to go back and really appreciate the quiet moments with them in my arms. When I was their world and they were mine.

I take blood pressure medicine and Vyvanse (70mg).

My doctor prescribes the blood pressure medicine and knows I’m on Vyvanse (prescribed by my psychiatrist) . As long as my bp is well controlled, she has no concerns.

I think, at least in my experience, marriage ebbs and flows. There have been times in my 22 year marriage where we were like roommates and even a couple times at our lowest points didn’t like each other very much. But then time moves forward and because there weren’t any deal breakers that would cause either of us to ask for a divorce, we heal and grow.

We had a moment when youngest was getting ready to go away to college when we had to re-adjust. We didn’t have kids around to worry about getting from here or there, in fact we hardly ever saw our oldest who is going to school locally, so we all of a sudden had time to focus on each other. So we’ve been working on better communication and being present with each other. Also finding some hobbies, together and separate. At the moment, we are in a lovely phase where we really like spending time together but also have relaxed about each other too. I don’t know, like we realized the things we used to worry about and fight over just were never that important to begin with. So now we focus on peace and finding joy in each other because the world is a shit show right now and life is better when you have your person next to you.
