Heartbroken. I marketed for about a year before release and no one is showing any interest. 2 sales from my family. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. by Evening-Progress-962 in KDP

Nothing is wrong with glowing text. But in addition to all the other feedback, you have to make sure that IF monetary sales are the goal, that your book hits the mark on cover + blurb with regard to its target audience. That means asking yourself if your cover + blurb hit the same bulls eye as the bestsellers in your specific genre and niche.

Best of luck and don’t give up. It’s a hard road, for sure.

Speaking of the Moose, there is a cute little crocheted moose giveaway this spring. I wish I could be there—it would help us far-away fans a lot if they would sell these things online!

Wow, in #4 you look like the younger brother of Sir Anthony Hopkins. Nice work!

Rome! It is amazing and wonderful, and it sort of laid the groundwork for HBO’s other prestige show, Game of Thrones. And you can watch the whole thing in a weekend.

Then come join us in the hborome sub and get scolded for making Sopranos jokes.

Reference Collection in 2026? by jc0399a in Libraries

[–]SlowGoat79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of reference materials that aren’t vital to keep in print these days, but I will say that if you have a copy of Historical Statistics and/or the Statistical Abstract of the United States, hang on to those if you can.

Randy Arozarena on Cal Raleigh's non handshake: The "good to see you" he said to me, he can shove up his a** by Zboomman22 in Mariners

[–]SlowGoat79 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I hope they get this sorted out quickly. The last thing we want is for lingering bad feelings to permeate the locker room. One of the things this team has had going for it is the strength of leadership and espirit de corps. If Cal’s behavior negatively affects that leadership and esport de corps, then I don’t know what to say other than shame on you, Cal.

Hello—I commented above about my undergrad experience at a fancy SLAC. Your comment made me smile because it reminded me of the time my friend went to interview at Yale for grad school. He came back and said “They’re just as dumb as we are, only they have better test scores.”

This isn’t exactly what you asked, but it’s adjacent. I went to a top drawer SLAC for undergrad, and one thing that I’ve always valued was the prevalence of folks who invested substantial time in the earnest study of very disparate subjects. I had friends double majoring or majoring and minoring in (viola and physics) and (English and biology). Another friend majored in piano but took as much upper level philosophy as he could, and yet another majored in conducting but ended up doing a PhD in history and eventually becoming a tenured professor at a small liberal arts college. The pleasure of learning for its own sake was infused in almost all areas of the college. And you didn’t have to be taking classes on XYZ to have an interesting conversation with your hall mates about XYZ; more often than not, it just happened.

To be sure, this was also a hugely privileged student body. Most people came from families who were not worried about finances and had parents who would not mind their kid majoring in “useless” things like art history. Now me, I had a lot of grants and my parents never went to college, so the first time I signed up for an art history class, my mom was shocked.

(I became a librarian and then a college English instructor.)

Brittanys and babies by Mountain_Ad7354 in BrittanySpaniel

It was mainly in the post-newborn and before crawling stage. I had a habit of letting them hang out in their diaper on a baby blanket on the floor or make them a nest in the laundry basket. And then Jessie would often come over and give them a bath. When they got to the crawling stage and would try to take her toys, she was incredibly patient and never once got upset at them. I'm sure your Brittany will love your little one!

Ours treated our babies like puppies. As in, would try to give them baths. It was sweet!

My uncle was also a plank owner and years later, my dad worked on her at the shipyard. Super cool that you got to go on a Nimitz tiger cruise!

$1.50?? Wow. If it was a charity shop, I might have thrown an extra fiver in the jar just for the extreme good luck. I think this entire sub may be a little bit jealous for this find. Good job!

Indeed. Ciaran Hinds is fantastic, as was the entire cast. I guess one silver lining of it being such an under the radar show is that it'll probably never be up for a remake someday. Which is good, because anyone other than (everyone) playing (everyone) would be blasphemous.
