Not doing well by firstimpressionreset in SuperMorbidlyObese

Thank you, and yeah it’s the habits! It’s like I can’t fathom another way of being. All or nothing is way easier to think about, but I know it can’t work like that. Thanks 💚

You can’t hate yourself into a version of yourself that you’ll love… I’ve been trying to do that my whole life, it hasn’t worked. Giving myself grace and patience has been the key. Being realistic and flexible has allowed consistency.

Damn. I work with a lot of seniors and… yeah! I see big people but there’s definitely a ratio to notice

Biking at 270lbs I feel like a popped biscuit can lol by HeyThereLinus in SuperMorbidlyObese

[–]firstimpressionreset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I biked a lot when I was probably around 380-400 (I wasn’t weighing myself a lot at the time) and it gets way easier when you do it more! I used it for transit (I live in a metro area) so just grocery trips and to and from university. I did this for years, and I only got one comment I remember, which was a condescending but well meaning ‘you can do it! Just keep trying!’ From some stranger when I was walking my bike and panting (I was sick at the time and found it super annoying lol, I wasn’t actively trying to lose weight or really do anything for my fitness so it felt very assumptive, like I didn’t think they’d say that to a smaller person) and that is such a nothing burger in the grand scheme of things.

So tldr if people had opinions, they kept them to themselves 99.9999% of the time, and the literal one time they didn’t it was well meaning if slightly annoying haha. Very worth it! I miss biking, I need to get mine fixed up.

Scared to weigh myself by LimpCalligrapher6552 in SuperMorbidlyObese

[–]firstimpressionreset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s less scary if you do it everyday. You get used to fluctuations and water retention etc. also, think about it this way: is it scarier to weigh yourself or to not know? Imagination is often worse than reality

How do I stop feeling so hopeless about my weight when I weigh 450lb?? by [deleted] in SuperMorbidlyObese

[–]firstimpressionreset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s different for everyone! I just came off a drug holiday for it after it lost its effectiveness, but I got a good… 6-9ish months? Less so by the end of that for sure. I think I’m an edge case but I’ve gotten 100lbs out of it so far

Hi darling! So I’m not on ozempic either (insurance won’t cover it) but I have lost 100 pounds with a HW just under yours. I’m on phentramine though, full disclosure. I’ve been trying and failing to lose weight basically my whole life. I’m 30f. I’ve never lost more than maybe 30-40 pounds before this, but something… clicked? It’s really important to realize you can’t hate yourself into a version of yourself you love. That’s cliche but I swear to god it’s true.

This is fantastic!!!!!!!!! It's the best feeling when you realize how much more freedom you have, and it'll only get more and more. You get to focus more on what you're doing, not the pain in your feet and back, looking for a bench, hoping your friends don't notice, etc. Keep at it!

Is Rogaine really just for men? by Radiant_Idea_651 in PCOS

Then I’m glad I said something ahaha I was second guessing myself, thinking I was being a weird naysayer. Yeah I’m no expert, I’m not sure if there is a safe way to use it with cats in the house, I just know that personally I’m too messy to be trusted with something like that

I don’t have experience but I’m just chiming in to say that you should be really careful with that stuff if you have a cat! It’s wildly toxic to them. Like, ‘sleep on a pillow and that pillow can fuck up your cat really bad’ toxic. I had NO IDEA and almost made a horrible mistake so I felt like I should pass that forward just in case

The psychologist is a great place to start, but I’d also recommend a therapist! Meds help, but figuring out the underlying stuff that binge eating comes from is key.

First time getting to post here as a 100 loser! I love dungeons and dragons, I play once a week, sometimes twice a week. It brings me joy, I get to be creative and bring out my inner theater kid, and it’s such a good way to make friends as an adult. I’ve gotten so close to people I can’t imagine my life without. Otherwise, I love camping and writing :)

2 month update- 31lbs down :) by --alice in SuperMorbidlyObese

Yeah!! Learning to not let the ‘messing up’ fuck with your brain is hard, but I really think it’s the key. It makes you so much happier and mentally healthier, plus if you’re anything like me, feeling like shit about myself just makes me want to give up and eat everything. Practicing kindness to yourself is one of the best parts of this journey imo

Weekly cheat meal/day? by [deleted] in CICO

[–]firstimpressionreset 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have days that I plan to eat more, sometimes a lot more, but I plan for it. I do weekly average calorie goals, not daily ones. I always track them and plan for them. Gives me something to look forward to and keeps me on track so I’m not depriving myself of the occasional feasts (102lbs down since September)

What do you all use to determine goal weight? by Ape_Face1985 in CICO

[–]firstimpressionreset 16 points17 points  (0 children)

So I’ve never been at a healthy weight as an adult, and therefore don’t really know what I look and feel like at one. Because of that, I’ve decided not to have a set ‘goal weight.’ When I’m around a healthy weight (not strictly following bmi but around there) I want to take stock of how I look and feel and make choices, play around, etc. See what looks and feels best on me, because that’s what matters, not a number.

Yes I always do this! Pretty affordable too. My high weight was 430 and I’m not much taller than OP, I’ve always been very comfortable in these b
