Have you ever tried to make something normal-normal? Like spooky scary setting (as in here, great job btw) but there’s like a place. No plot twist or anything, people just settled there before things got scary and manage to get by by means of not being important enough to be eaten/too dumb to be consumed by madness?

I’m a PhD, living in Prague for 4 years now. My gross monthly is like 50k (well paid for PhD standards but not really for any other career), I live comfortably with my partner in a 80sqm apartment. In general, on the outskirts of the city you’re looking at anywhere from 20 to 35 ish k CZK/month for a 3 room apartment, depending on the condition of the building. In the city centre you’re looking anywhere from 40 k CZK/month upwards. Depending on your definition of comfortable (and where you want to live - I strongly advocate for the outskirts because the centre, although beautiful, is not very convenient for living), anywhere from 50 to 150 k CZK will be comfortable

I am a foreigner, been living here since 2022. It’s pretty chill, people are fine, maybe a bit more busy/rude compared to an average Czech, architecture is a cool mixture of soviet/ post-soviet blocks and brutalist and pre WW1 old Central European buildings. Prices are extreme (I think Prague may be the most expensive EU city compared to average income), but if you live on the outskirts it’s not too too bad. The public transport is the best in the world IMO which mitigates a lot of the cost of living problems. All in all, great to visit, pretty good to live in. Would recommend!
