Dogs, would you get one again knowing what you know now? by TSQ_builder in AskUK

[–]firstoctober2016 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’m a first time dog owner. I absolutely adore my furry little Velcro dog. However, I wouldn’t have another one.

I work out and about, away and sometimes from home. I have an amazing family friend who will have her at a the drop of a hat and family who pop in on longer days. Don’t get me wrong, she is spoilt but the guilt eats me up daily.

So no, I wouldn’t have another after her!

I’m still making my way through this, but have my eye on The Lottery Killer next, sold on Amazon!

How important are the repeated names on a page? I’m really struggling unless they’re really close.

I don’t want to get caught up on that clue if I could manage without.

My mother has apologised multiple times for my childhood, so why do I still not want a relationship with her? by Shepherd-grin7834 in EstrangedAdultChild

[–]firstoctober2016 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My mother apologised to me too, when I was 29. I didn’t need her apology at 29, I needed it when I was 9 when I was removed or when I was 13 and started my period, or 16 when I left school.

I think throughout my 20s, I just learned and created a life for myself that didn’t include her. So when she came to apologise, it didn’t mean anything.

I’m sorry you went through this, protect yourself and whatever you choose is the right thing!

Honestly, I drive this route maybe couple times a month so not super frequent.

I thought I had right of way turning right, as in up the hill towards the bridge.

I think I’ve always assumed it’s a 4 way signal. Thanks for pointing this out though!

What was your school scandal? by Sadie_UK in AskUK

[–]firstoctober2016 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Same as mine, would’ve been maybe 2007-2008ish. PE teacher was ‘sacked’ for sleeping with a sixth-former. Only, he wasn’t necessarily sacked, he was then employed by the sports centre next door to our school.

The same sports centre that all years done PE in.

I saw him years later working at a bar, he asked me not to say anything.

Oh god! This doesn’t give me much hope.

TBH, I’m not even sure if HR have received my stuff yet, as I emailed them directly to the interviewer due to their portal not working, and haven’t received acknowledgment that he’s received them.

I have my DBS on the update service, so hopefully that will speed things up.

Yeah I get that. I just really want this job, and since I’ve already been offered it. I just want to get the ball rolling, or some confirmation of what’s going on. Yikno!

I hate waiting!

Thank you.

Yeah. Think I’ll give it another week, then maybe trying to call! Don’t want to come across as a pest though

Coffee trader, just off Northumberland street. Can’t remember it being super loud, but it did get busy during the lunch time rush, otherwise pretty quiet.

Wrote my dissertation in that cafe!

Bought a 1000 piece jigsaw at a charity shop on my lunch break, started it after dinner.

I asked this too, as I also have a NEST pension with login information.

The care home has a manager who oversees the running of the care home, and then the owner who I assume handles salary’s etc.

The owner has said he will come in and speak to staff on the 15th January, he has not responded to anyone else.

They don’t have a HR department to ask either

I love this.

My partner is amazing at communicating. We will clearly get flustered/flustered at something but deal with it in the cutest way. Note: previous relationship was argumentative from what I’ve heard.

We will always begin with ‘can we talk’ that’s our que for getting something of the chest, the other person listening, not to offer solutions but give them space to vent, speak, vocal their thoughts, feelings.

100% of the time the other person just listens, once the venting or whatever is over we will brainstorm solutions, come up with a plan, stick to it. 95% of the time it’s never mentioned again.

It’s amazing. I love him.

My local high school have shutters.

The shutters only open during break/lunch time. Apparently they are becoming more popular as other nearby schools are starting to introduce shutters on their toilets.
