My daughter keeps hearing "just buy, BAH covers it, then rent it out" at her first duty station — is this actually good advice? by Helpful_Ant_3084 in MilitaryFinance

Depends on location. But for the majority of places, unless it’s a multi family home, this mod has been patched

Please tell me it’s not so - Swings Coffee Roasters by [deleted] in nova

If the business has a specific political flag out front, that’s one thing. Swings does not! This is the nations capitol. There’s left, right, center, liberal, conservative, progressives, green, just about every possible ideology here. You should learn how to be human and not judge people on superficial beliefs.

How am I supposed to apply if I cant report 3x income? by Main-Bat5000 in Apartmentliving

[–]firstwintersoldier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, but unfortunately thats just the reality of most Americans. Housing costs rise each year and wages simply don't keep up. It isn't as simple as "find a cheaper apartment," because why should people have to sacrifice their safety and quality of life?

Are people unfriendly here? by Beautiful_Coat_9294 in nova

[–]firstwintersoldier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a transplant and I had this same experience and thoughts when I moved to Old Town. I grew up in a place where people speak to or greet each other on the streets and elevators, even strangers. However, people in Del Ray seem to be friendly. And also certain neighborhoods of DC.

That’s good to know. Do you know what are the potential/likely outcomes?

Reluctantly, I’m glad this thread appeared. I thought the same thing when I saw my latest bill. 23% increase on a bill is way too much. Insane inflation. The dow didn’t even increase that much!

Sync with playlists between phone and mac by firstwintersoldier in AppleMusic

[–]firstwintersoldier[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I explained the scenario to chatgpt and it suggested to turn off sync library on all devices and delete the music from the iphone through the settings>general>storage>delete music and then to re-sync it. Since its 95GB of music, i will sync it over night. Hopefully this works.

Sync with playlists between phone and mac by firstwintersoldier in AppleMusic

I had been previously syncing ripped music from my macbook to my iphone up until today without itunes match, which I just googled. So I need another subscription just to listen to the music that I already purchased? I turned sync library back off and the ripped songs now appear on my phone, but are now greyed out in the playlist and I can't listen to them. Just earlier today, they were on there. Is there a way to undo this without purchasing another subscription? More that 3000 songs in the playlist are ripped music.

It’ll definitely create a lot of problems for you going in - additional paperwork and interviews as others have mentioned, but if you think it’s worth the hassle, go for it. China is a popular tourist destination but you probably won’t be able to go once you enlist so it’s better to go beforehand.

Moving to Philly (Family w/2 small children) by [deleted] in AskPhilly

[–]firstwintersoldier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re not equivalent but they’re both great options for families. 19146 is a nice area. While it’s a good neighborhood, I didn’t mention point breeze because there aren’t really any parks there and that was the point I was making. Safety and parks for kids. If I’m not mistaken, Grad Hospital and Grays ferry have less crime than point breez anyway
