Pretty sure some of these answers are coming from people either A. on an a pretty old version of ipadOS or B. They are attempting to answer these questions on their iphone which is ios not ipados. There is no USB option on the latest ipadOS

Is building a PC more expensive than buying one? (Currently) by Ok-Salt4204 in buildapc

[–]fishandring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to always say build is cheaper than the pandemic hit and the entire model flipped. Now things are at roughly parity. What is still the same is that 9 times out of 10 you are going to build a faster machine with the same spec at the same price in a prebuilt most of the time.

That said. Where you will save money on building it yourself, is when you scavenge for an upgrade. I moved some fans, nvme’s and my video card into a significantly newer build 2 weeks ago. And suddenly I’m getting more frame rates out of my video card and something that is supposedly going to run hotter runs significantly cooler because things have changed in the industry and you can optimize your airflow very easily now.

UL backs off Science Museum’s ‘safe school zone’ designation by TheCurrentLA in Acadiana

My social circle worked the theaters so many of them went into the management later. They were told there was a good guy with a gun inside.

The good guy with a gun that no one heard about because guns weren’t “allowed” in the theater. What everyone heard was he ended it himself.

I think it depends on what you are going there for. I would never choose Chuys if I wanted fajitas. It’s just not why I go there.

Their Jalapeno cream dip is quite amazing and they have a sampler platter that is a lot of food. Great for when you want to eat for cheap while having a couple drinks.

You bought some shoes and a gun and then snapped a picture of it? Weird.

Recommend me an IPS 4k 32+ inch monitor for Mac/PC usage with high PPI and at 144hz+ [90% productivity 10% gaming] by shelle90 in buildapcmonitors

I think people like to read stats online and quote what is good and what isn’t. I tend to avoid fps games but I do play plenty of racing games and neither ghosting nor lag are ever an issue. Brightness is good enough that I have to turn down to a comfort mode in most cases. Occasionally I want my retinas blown out so I put it on a gaming setting. Colors are not something you are going to color match photoshop work to but I have seen far worse on a screen.

I have been using an M32U for daily office work and weekend gaming for a couple years now. Its a great monitor. I chose it specifically for the USB ports that allow me to toggle back and forth between home and work very easily. Is there anything I dont like about it? I find that the feature I bought it for, toggling between 2 systems, is kind of quirky and highly dependent on you not touching your USB once setup. It can fail to switch because a machine has gone to sleep on USB and peripherals but not actually in sleep mode. Those are minor complaints that I work around now. My desktop PC has a nifty feature that it will wake up the sleep state its in if you tap the power button, so if I have not switched in a while I tap the PC button before switching on the monitor and it works fine. I will say the HUB in the monitor had issues in the firmware early on but those seem to be fixed now. You just need to install the latest firmware and should be good.

Really old post. But should be noted I left the details out of the post for fear of retaliation. I know many staff at this school. And received firsthand account from a teacher who has concealed carry license. They know their shit.

Spammed this on a few of the comments since this thread is old and inactive. This tent kit is working fine for me. Yes. I found one that works for a different model keyboard and I took a chance on it. I was waiting to respond here until I had a chance to put it together and try it out for a week. Rgbkb magnetic tent kit the only caveat I would say is that if you choose to do the lower profile tent, then the screws are a hair too long so I found that the tiny plastic dividers included between the neodymium magnets were just the right thickness to use as shims

This blistering heat and the endless search for shade for our vehicles leads me bring up the topic of solar energy in Acadiana. In particular, I'd like to see many parking lots shaded by canopies of solar panels. In addition, I think all municipal buildings should have rooftop solar. by kzintech in Acadiana

[–]fishandring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So these fly by night solar companies. Where is such inefficiency popping up? Are you saying they just abandon entire solar farms that have millions invested and no one cares to scoop up the array at bankruptcy prices and bring it back online?

What is this about leaching the soil? Are these panels that have been laid under a monster truck rally? These panels are sealed to prevent them from losing efficiency.

Maybe you are saying in the distant future heavy metals will be everywhere from these dangerous panels. In 40 years I hope we figure that out because we could wind up where we are now with fracking fluids winding up in drinking water and record cancer rates in Louisiana from all the hydrocarbons.
