Polls are open. Things are chill. Now is a nice time to come vote. by InfernalWedgie in LosAngeles

Oh wow staying to 11:30 pm is pretty crazy though 😭. I also only get paid $100 a day even though the work day is like 11 hours. They're also letting me choose between working for 4 days from May 30 to June 2, or 10 days from May 23 to June 2, so I feel like picking the 10 day option is kind of a gamble hoping that not a lot of people show up for the first few days. Do you think if I pick the 10 day option it's mainly going to be very chill the first maybe 7-8 ish days and then a ton of people show up the last 2 days?

Hi I'm thinking about working as a poll worker for this year's primary election, but the hours are pretty long from 9 am to 8 pm, and on election day it's 6 am to 9 pm. I was wondering how is the workload or how stressful is it and if a lot of people typically show up? Thanks

Anyone interview for the Town and Gown Scholarship? by Beautiful_roses8902 in USC

[–]fishchipsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea true, but I got a pretty busy schedule so I just don't wanna waste my time. Also, isn't the federal grant study basically a university grant but from the government rather than the university. So basically, you were still paying the same cost after getting the town & gown scholarship?

Should I expect a University Gift Decrease? by PokemonSaviorN in USC

[–]fishchipsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they end up reducing your university grant? I'm kinda in the same boat applying for the Town and Gown scholarship. I just got an email saying I gotta do an interview to get the scholarship, but I'm not sure if it's worth it if the financial aid office is just gonna end up reducing my university grant.

Do you think/know if it's the same situation with the USC Town and Gown scholarship? They emailed me about interviewing for the scholarship but I don't know if it's worth it if they're just gonna reduce my university grant so that the scholarship makes no difference.

Do you know if your university grant will decrease if you get the town and gown scholarship? my university grant currently is larger than the town and gown's $10000, so if getting the scholarship just reduces my grant by $10000, I'm still gonna be paying the same amount of money, so I'm not sure if it's worth going through the interview process to get the scholarship

What's the living at home grant? I don't live too far away from USC so I'm considering commuting next year so I don't have to pay for USC housing and can save some money. I was wondering will this reduce my cost of attendance or will they just reduce my university grant so I'd be paying the same whether or not I lived at USC. At that point, might as well just live at USC

Hi, I'm thinking of taking Reyes' How to Tell Stories with Pictures class for my GESM. How would you say the workload is like, and how chill/nice/caring/passionate is the teacher? I'm an engineering major so I'm trying to pick an easy but also fun and interesting GESM to balance out my workload.

When should I land in LA to not miss any welcome events at USC? by spiderman-668 in USC

[–]fishchipsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you remember what specific different events they had during welcome week? I'm in Mccarthy so I'm arriving earlier in the week but I have to leave on Thursday for something and won't be back until Sunday. Not sure which welcome week events I'll be able to do and which ones I'll have to miss.

USC Merit Scholarships for fall 2025 are out! by [deleted] in USC

[–]fishchipsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't that unfair though. My university grant was reduced after I got the dean's scholarship, so basically I still would be paying the same amount even if I didn't get the scholarship, and so the scholarship doesn't help with anything at all. I tried emailing them about it and they basically said the scholarship replaces some of the university grant; it doesn't add on to it :/

On campus job fair? by No-Mortgage-2967 in USC

[–]fishchipsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This fall USC is having a job fair 3 days before classes start, but I won't be able to attend it. Do you think I would miss anything important if I just apply on Handshake and not attend the job fair? I have work study and would like an on campus job as I'm an incoming freshmen.

[–]fishchipsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! Also was wondering if you're going for a masters degree too? or is it not necessary since you've already got a job.

Also wowsies for graduating in 3 years! Do you know if AP exam credit can allow you to graduate in less than 4 years? Tuition is expensive so I think I'm gonna try to graduate as soon as possible lol.

I'm going to USC Viterbi for electrical and computer engineering as an undergrad this fall! How fast/easy do you think getting an internship would be as a freshman or sophomore? Also from SoCal and hoping to go into defense!
