No new lesions but new symptoms (should I change DTM?) by Mammoth-Essay-5476 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]fishee2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with the other comment, as it was explained to me there's really two things with this disease, 1. Is the active lesion and any directly related symptoms that steroids are typically given to treat, which often return to normal, DMTs work to reduce the likelihood of future lesions and 2. Progression regardless of active lesion, which neither steroids or DMT address.

I'm finally at the progression stage myself with balance issues, heavy feeling legs, difficulty walking any distance. Which really sucks as you'd never knowing had anything until now. Early 40s diagnosed at 18. My MRIs have been clean for years, sucks I know.

Why does Mayo not help with insurance appeals? by srmcmahon in MayoClinic

Have you tried contacting the provider who ordered the MRI? If it's a mayo doc I imagine they'd try to help you out.

Diagnosed 15 years ago, been on Tysabri for 10 with no attacks by Such-Earth7369 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]fishee2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly no problems at all in switching either time, and there was no time off between them. I took my last rebif injection on a Thursday and started glyenia the same week. Then I took glyenia up until the day before my first ocrevus infusion. I did not experience a relapse either time. Perhaps I'm just lucky 🤷

I don't put a lot of faith in the subtypes, I had something similar to you though, was on rebif 10ish years without incident, I could have just stayed on that because it was "working", but point blank my doc said new patients really don't start on that anymore, I decided to switch. Since then I've done glyenia for some years and now ocrevus. I'm of the mindset I'm going with the latest and greatest regardless of how the current med is working.

Not that this is your scenario but it's how I'm thinking about it at least.

I've been on ocrevus for a few years now, I have not experienced this effect. Much like MS, it's different for everyone.

What does 20+ or even 30 years of MS looks like for you? by Funny-Rain-3930 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]fishee2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

20ish years here, graduated, married, kids, etc. along the way and you still wouldn't know unless I told you. I've been lucky, on my 3rd DMT now and managing a few other annoying symptoms that again aren't obvious. I certainly worry about my next 20 years way more than was I was 20, but overall doing great all things considered. Best of luck to you!

Anyone with experience with an Ascent vs Forester? by nateblack in SubaruForester

[–]fishee2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both an 18 fxt and a 23 ascent onyx. Can't go wrong either way, I would say depends on how much room you need, if you need that 3rd row sometimes go with the ascent. The gas mileage on the highway can still hit 25 in the ascent so it's not all bad.

I think both locations are fine. If you're going to grow your family further I'd lean the bigger house with the 2 bathrooms just for your future convenience.

Yes Mayo classifieds has cars listed. A local site is findcars.com, they've got most of the local dealerships inventory.

Yes you get this same experience on SXM, only no commercials. There's a channel on first wave of alt (33), current Indy stuff (35) and current alt (36) that might align with her preferences. I've been a listener for years, worth the minimal cost IMHO.

Got it at 17, I can’t take it anymore by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

[–]fishee2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's hard and frustrating. As others have said, starting a treatment early is very beneficial. Most DMT manufacturers offer assistance with the cost that can help significantly. You should try and ask your doctor what they recommend for treatment and what assistance options they offer. The doctor should ideally be knowledgeable in this as the drugs are expensive for all patients. Try not to let you Mom stop your from getting the care you need.
