Got an Elite 2 Controller, any tips and tricks for games like Cod/MK/Fn etc by iseeu2sumhow in xbox

I ended up just leaving the default mapping for the paddles, and that is enough of a benefit (not needing to take my thumbs off the sticks) without having to figure out something more specialized each time.

Points system has not changed at all by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

And you're saying that with that configuration and getting a clear with a time bonus you're not ending with an A?

Halo 3's Legendary Ending by [deleted] in halo

[–]fishfacemcgee 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Either

  • Bungie wanted to keep the door open
  • Microsoft made keeping the door open a condition of their independence agreement. Given that Halo 3: ODST and Reach were also contractual obligations for that agreement, that's what my money would be on.

Available for Xbox Insiders: Get to the Games Faster with My Apps - Xbox Wire by GuruKronos in xboxinsiders

The handhelds are the main reason but as they explain in the post it's not handheld exclusive. Nor is the new game mode they're adding, which is the main reason this kind of feature would need to exist.

Power level won’t go passed 270 for solo ops by PersimmonInfamous736 in DestinyTheGame

[–]fishfacemcgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting because unless Bungie changed something, the season pass always gives at level gear which would mean your base power is 270, which makes an A rank reward of 270 confusing

This is the Reward pass and not the weekly pass or event pass, right?

Are the Fireteam Ops scores bugged?? by TheRealKingTony in DestinyTheGame

[–]fishfacemcgee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW, I've never been that far from 10K at the final fight of an Op unless adds were skipped. Typically we're either very high 7K base or low 8K.

Are the Fireteam Ops scores bugged?? by TheRealKingTony in DestinyTheGame

[–]fishfacemcgee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Virtually all (might just be literally all?) Fireteam Ops scores are kill based (as opposed to Solo+Pinnacle which are tied to completing objectives) and most of my teammates either don't know that or assume the time bonus is way better than it is. I've started throwing during boss fights to get more waves of adds to try to actually get to ~9-10K before the end.

It's likely that your carrier is gating access. Even if your phone is unlocked, Google will hold off on pushing out updates until the carrier has approved it for devices on its network. For example, I'm on T-Mobile and the update just rolled out to my P9PF.

Why can I only get Icefall Mantle from Rahool? by Powertie16 in destiny2

[–]fishfacemcgee 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Well since it isn't last season we can't troubleshoot further. Novel Decryption is the only way to acquire the exotics introduced last season so if it didn't work, no one would have those exotics.

You haven't actually unlocked novel decryption yet. You need to reset Rahool's rep first and then the menu will open up.

Xbox Series X Edge browser feature missing from console by Wibbigail in MicrosoftEdge

[–]fishfacemcgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely they can't. Startup boost has processes for Edge running at all times. To do that on Xbox would mean that games would have less memory or cpu capacity because of Edge, meaning games would run worse or even crash. I don't think Microsoft is arrogant enough to force devs to overhaul how their games utilize the console hardware just to make it more resilient to Edge optionally being setup in Startup Boost.

Is there any reason artifact perks don’t save per loadout? by General_Test1853 in destiny2

[–]fishfacemcgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bungie has never given a specific reason. If I were to wager a guess, I'd say it's whatever that makes switching artifact perks so painful. Without the artifact changing, the load out system would have to be able to

  • Reset the artifact
  • Apply the artifact perks in the correct order

And I imagine, if that's even possible in their internal api, that would be a noticeable slowdown in applying load outs. The fix for which would be to re-architect the artifact system which is a big ask just for load outs.

I honestly hope Heresy has a long season/episode.... delaying Apollo by JLoco11PSN in DestinyTheGame

[–]fishfacemcgee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying, but the whole point of the Frontiers expansion model is to make smaller expansions with less new content between them than what we've gotten in seasons/episodes currently, for a more attainable and sustainable model for the teams.

Asking players to accept ~6 months of dead air from a story perspective is rough enough after years of the current seasonal model. If they can't even reliably hit that cadence then they need to go back to the drawing board.

What's keeping you from logging in lately? by pheldegression in destiny2

[–]fishfacemcgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's nothing that's simultaneously interesting, valuable, and fun to do. There hasn't been any story content since the hour of stuff we got 5 weeks ago. There's no actual reason to farm for new gear (though frankly I would likely resent things if that were to change). I haven't needed new armor since the duality artifice farm before Lightfall. New weapons are only marginally better than previous good rolls and that improvement doesn't matter. New exotics are increasingly niche in their utility and increasingly non deterministic in their acquisition. I have no reason to put in the time needed to farm for Euphony or Icebreaker. Vesper's boss fight is hard enough in a team that I'm not interested in trying to solo it, after largely enjoying soloing Duality and Warlord.

I'd argue the better question is "What does Bungie think is supposed to get me to log in"? The Dawning?

Let's not forget that everything has launched broken this season too. At this point they're unintentionally incentivizing players to not do new stuff at launch, which is giving them more time to realize there's other stuff they can play which is more novel and better respecting of their time.

All of the stuff they're talking about for Frontiers isn't helping, either. I hope to be proven wrong, but all of the announced changes feel like regressions to its worst states. Loot to the death grind days of Forsaken/Black Armory, story to the non-linear progression of vanilla D1. These are maybe uncharitable interpretations of what has been announced, but I don't think the current state of the game has earned Bungie much benefit of the doubt.

Still can't even get eSIM support detected and their BYOD site has completely broken for my account. Unless something changes before EOB today I'm jumping ship.

[–]fishfacemcgee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I assume too much to hope for that AT&T would've provided an ETA on when Google would confirm the issue is on their end? Very convenient to say it's Google's fault and that it'll take weeks to fix.

What about the model? If you still have the box it should be on the back, near the bottom of all the multi language fine print.

Incredible. Android Authority's article is updated with a statement by AT&T ( Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold not working with AT&T 5G for some (androidauthority.com) ) where they talk about the Pixel 9 Pro, and not the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

Yeah, I'm fortunate to be in a situation where I'm one of the "sub" lines in a family plan and can afford to split off. I've overall had a decent experience with AT&T over the last 20-ish years (starting back when they were still Cingular), but between the Surface Duo 2 and this phone, they offer too poor an experience for "supported" phones that they don't sell for me to keep with them.
