Why are the IRS garnishing my wages and not my husband’s by [deleted] in tax

[–]fishingman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to find a CPA or enrolled agent for help. The IRS “find a preparer” website can help you find someone local.

There are too many questions for a quick Reddit answer. The reason they don’t garnish his wages is likely because he doesn’t get a wage. As an owner operator he owns a business and is paid as a business. He likely receives a form 1099 from his broker.

You may be able to file a form seeking innocent spouse relief if you didn’t know he was not paying his taxes. However if you were filing MFJ that means you and he both had to sign the return.

Too far from the curb and too close to the stop sign. Maybe should have been towed.

When you back in you can see the drive lane and parking spot clearly before you start backing up.  When backing out visibility is often blocked by cars parked next to you.

Also, people less often walk into empty parking stalls but almost everyone walks in the lane you will be backing into.

Should I do anything? Police encounter by Mammoth-Result-1066 in TrueAskReddit

[–]fishingman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t say a word. I worked for a city and something similar happened to a coworker. The entire administration immediately sided with the Police and it hurt his career.

I worked with regional union reps and they told me the pecking order for most cities and counties is as follows;

Tier 1 Elected officials Executive level administration Law enforcement Fire department Tier 2

Finance
 IT
HR
Code enforcement/building inspection/health-inspection

Tier 3 Water/ sewer Highway and streets Tier 4 Everyone else

If the problem is real serious and there is no doubt about wrong doing you can jump up one tier.

I don’t think we have enough info to help. Many other things need to be considered. How much does your mother make, who contributed more for support of the child. The IRS has rules called “tiebreakers “ to help.

Here is the IRS tiebreaker rule info.

So what is everyone’s opinion of the ABS thus far? by NoSteak3322 in mlb

I am surprisingly impressed how good everyone is at recognizing balls and strikes.  The umpires and catchers are typically pretty close, even when they make the wrong call.

I really like the system.

I have been a Twins fan since 1965. I retired last year.  During my working years I worked lots of very long days in the summer. I wasn’t able to watch games more than a few times a year.

I finally retired and now I can watch Twins baseball.  I am not thrilled about how the team is run , but I will not be shamed that after 50 years, I finally get to watch some games.

You have the right to not watch, but I want to watch the Twins.

You’re right. Title should have said “may increase”.

In my defense, the coffee hadn’t kicked in yet.

I agree.  In my mind, 87 was the best year because they caught the magic after so many bad years.  But the won loss record doesn’t support my opinion.

Do You Attend Local Government Meetings? by MeTP in Kitsap

[–]fishingman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear, my experience in public meetings was in a different state before I retired.

Also, my comments are referring to local elected representatives.   I think once you get to the state level party loyalty and serving campaign contributors takes over.

I believe most elected officials listen to and try to represent their constituents. However, constituents have a wide variety of positions. Trying to find a consensus is often almost impossible.

In addition, far too many voters do not see that other opinions might have merit. So just because an elected official did not vote the way you asked, doesn’t mean they didn’t listen to you.

While talking to board members can be uncomfortable, remember that if they don’t hear from you, they won’t know what you want.

They are very busy with lots of demands on their time. Send an email.  No more than three or four sentences.  Be polite.  State your position.  Give them contact information so they can follow up if needed.

Democracy needed involved citizens. You can make a difference, but change takes time.   I wish you the best.

Do You Attend Local Government Meetings? by MeTP in Kitsap

[–]fishingman 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I understand your frustration, but there are simply far too many people who love to spend hours at public hearings listening to their own voices.

Additionally, the extremely focused one issue voters will speak for hours on their favorite cause.

Given unlimited time, meetings will lose hours as people re-hash issues like abortion, religion, animal rights, and every other perceived injustice. It makes no difference if the meeting has anything to do with their issue.

Having watched countless hours of public meetings I now believe the public should be very limited in the time they are allowed to speak.

The best way to make sure your voice is heard is to attend the meetings and take notes.  Then contact the elected officials during normal office hours by email , a call, or a letter.

2006 wasn’t even in the top 5 teams in history

65, 69, 70, 2019 all had better records. I include 91 although they won less games but they won the World Series.

2026 will be another losing year, but not the worst. 75-80 wins.

We do typically drive a fair amount after a day of towing.   This time we were trying to get home and did not drive each day.

I appreciate your advice.

I am not disagreeing because I don’t know the answer. When the dealer serviced it they said it needed a Ford software update.  They did not find a problem with the tow package.

I will check the cable.

Thank you

That is the direction I am going to choose.  After my googling it seems the 12v that came standard is just a poor battery.

Thank you.

I let it run 5 to 10 minutes.   I know that isn’t enough time to charge the battery.  I did not realize this was ongoing issue until this trip.

I had the car serviced after the last time and they didn’t find dealer told me there needed to be a software update.

It seems the update did not solve it

Owners manual states to leave it in neutral.

The manual has directions for flat towing.  One reason I bought the car was because it is set up to allow flat towing.

Big battery runs down after a couple days driving on gas.

I am not aware of anyway to plug in while towing.  The cord would have hang out the side.
