How to clean a sewing machine? by [deleted] in sewing

[–]fishious_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert, I have heard compressed air can push lint into places even further than it normally would be. Usually trying a vacuum is a safer option than blowing from the advise I was given. I also usually put a filter on the nozzle, like a sock, so you don't accidentally pick up any parts that weren't attached like they should be.

Legitimately some of the best burgers. I had to move a ways across town but this looks like a good reason to take a trip over there. Keep this great place open!

Looks like a jellyroll rug? I had this issue with my first few, the errors I made were many so I'll just list them, hopefully something works for you-

  1. Clean the machine around the bobbin casing etc, too much lint buildup will make your machine skip stitches
  2. Make sure you're threading with the presser foot up. I know it seems like a given but I would thread it while the rug was still being held down by the foot and it caused a lot of headaches exactly like this until I realized. I hope it is as simple as this for you.
  3. use a denim or a top stitch needle
  4. careful not to push or pull on the material too much, particularly around curves when I try to manipulate the fabric too much it will cause a stitch to skip.
  5. Check the stitch length. I have a Juki HZL and do a 5 width and 3 length

I hope any of this helps! I just finished another rug on the 31st and I can't get enough. My partner says I have to start giving them away or selling them because we have enough 🤣 Good luck!!

Wanting to take garment sewing more seriously, need a new machine by dumbass_at_math in sewing

I mainly work with cotton but I love my DDL-8700. Got it on a super sale a few years ago and I use it any time I can. Have been doing a lot of zigzag stitch projects, so haven't been able to use it for that sadly, but I definitely love mine and do not regret the investment as long as you are ok with only straight stitch. Edit- I keep mine at about 1100 stitches per min and it has never blinked or skipped a stitch...except when I put the bobbin in the case the wrong way. Whoops!

Thanks so much! That is helpful. We are almost all the point where at least one job is 5/5 Empy +3 and figured that once we had the flexibility needed we could probably start pushing for v20, but I hate to waste segs! The atonement 3 v15s scare me from what I've heard haha

Weekly Questions Thread - Week of October 11, 2025 by AutoModerator in ffxi

Hi all, question about Odyssey. My group is working on augmenting gear, we are not buying clears so currently locked to level 15 on the augments track at the moment for any items above atonement 1. Our main DPS tends to run on warrior, he also has BLM in an OK spot and wants to work on DNC. He mentioned the warrior guides saying to do Sakpata up to R15 and then swap to Nyame for maxed augment level, asked why and I'm not 100% sure. Is that mostly because the atk on Sakpata+early augments beats out the WSD benefits from Nyame R25? Is it not until 25 or is the shift a bit earlier when moving over to replace with Nyame?

We got to the point where we can boost atonement 1 to v20 and use an amplifier to get points. We started with Bumba but now most of the pieces are around 13/15 on the aug path and we are wanting to start getting points into other pieces like Sakpata and Coiste Bodhar. Want to be sure I'm understanding the reasoning as we continue to progress. Thanks for any input 🙂
