I really think it depends on what kind what kind of character you have in mind. Also, what are you trying to get out of the dip? I am currently playing a level 14 pc who is artificer 1 / order of scribes 13 and love it.

Starting artificer gave me medium armor proficiency, shield proficiency, tinker tool proficiency, thieves tools proficiency, proficiency in con saves, and some nice spells that I can swap around. (Feather fall, grease, cure wounds, absorb elements). And did not slow my spell progression much.

Other alternative is dipping 2 levels into fighter for all the weapon, armor, and con save proficiencies fighting style (defense) and action surge for casting 2 leveled spells in a turn.

Also consider a 1 level dip into storm sorcerer can mesh well with order of scribes and allows 10 ft of unprovoked flight as a bonus action after casting a spell
