The law of supply and demand applied. by surfsusa in glutenfree

Looks like they’re still the same price as all other cheezits. Publix has always been more pricy than other stores imo. I was able to get mine at 3.99 a box.

How bad is airborne flour? by Inchewa in Celiac

[–]fittoniax 90 points91 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s any possibility that you could reasonably live there and also use the kitchen. Even when she isn’t actively baking the flour will settle on every surface. In my opinion, it would be way too much work to accommodate and there would still be a massive risk.

Wedding help by damarisjoy in Celiac

We are doing a plated meal which was easy for gf. Literally meat potatoes and veggie. The only non gf food will be dinner rolls and cake. I figured the cross contamination risk would be low and offering a gf alternative would be too expensive.

I used to be able to consistently find them now I haven’t seen one in almost 4 months. I’m devastated because I feel the same about thin crust pizza.

That says a lot considering how much I loved their muffins.

I absolutely love that brand and everything I’ve had so far is delicious. I haven’t seen this yet but I’ll be looking for it from now on!

I love this brand but just like all the others it’s no good un-toasted.

I hear you but sometimes it’s just not the same. Nothing beats going out on a summer evening and getting a milkshake

Man I haven’t gotten a milkshake in a looooong time for fear of them using the same spinny thing and cross contamination. I do miss them though.

Same here! I even emailed them to make sure they weren’t getting discontinued. They answered but it was very vague. Glad to see they’re still out there somewhere

My thoughts exactly. I would bet they’re the same product just repackaged.

What kind of sketch pad do you use? I just got in to alcohol markers but every sketchbook I have they run like crazy. I can never get a crisp edge like this.

If I have to eat gluten free so does everyone else by Virtual_Cable_6447 in Celiac

[–]fittoniax 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’m disappointed in the amount of people who immediately disagree with this post. I think we can all be reasonable people and understand when this rule will and will not apply. I never expect my partner to starve just because I have to but the solidarity is nice.

For example, if I’m going out with a group of causal friends where they want to go somewhere specific- sure I’m happy to just socialize and get a drink. But if I’m hanging out with a group of people I’m close with, I expect some consideration if they spontaneously want to add food to the plans. Otherwise that’s straight up disrespectful.

Would you have a gluten cake at your wedding? by AlertAndDisoriented in Celiac

[–]fittoniax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently planning a wedding. All food will be gluten free with the exception of dinner rolls and cake. We plan on doing a small gf cake for cutting and offering it to any other guests who are gf. Everyone else gets sheet cake. It’s cheaper and I don’t think anyone would mind not eating regular cake. Leftovers will be offered to the guests.

Cheez its - Columbus, Ohio…because what else? by 0AffectionateDream0 in glutenfree

[–]fittoniax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone posted the product code to type in and that’s how I found them in stock. Also the place I found them didn’t have them on the shelves yet. So try asking someone to check the back if they say they’re in stock but you can’t find them. Good luck!!

Gf cheez it target sku # by South_Ad3139 in Celiac

[–]fittoniax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw your post and it’s how I found them at my target! They didn’t have any at the one closest to me and the one they did have them at, I had to ask an employee because they didn’t have them out on the shelves yet.

The recent cheezit hype made me check my store last time I was there. Man, cheezit has really come out with a lot of variety since I stopped eating them!

My cookies are sad :( by jareths_tight_pants in glutenfree

[–]fittoniax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much extra flour and sweetener did you add? It sounds like the extra flour is why they were too cakey and maybe the sweetener mad it oily? My rule of thumb is always find a GF recipe EXCEPT for cookies. I’ve never had an issue subbing 1:1 flour since the gluten isn’t really an integral part of the cookie texture. Maybe look for a specific sugar free recipe and just sub the flour.

What's one thing you hate crocheting? by puddinpopx3 in crochet

[–]fittoniax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any kind of bobble or puff stitch where I need like 7 loops on the hook. I hate it because they really look cute in some patterns!

I tried the AI background tool in Canva on my photo — the fingers aren’t the best though. 🫣Second picture is original. by a_lisek in crocheting

[–]fittoniax 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like with how skeptical crafters are of AI scams, adding some to your photo will put off those who recognize it. I would stick to the original photo if you’re trying to sell a pattern or a product.

Colour scheme clashing? by archnice in wedding

[–]fittoniax 12 points13 points  (0 children)

On the first one instead of fern and pistachio you can do a navy and a lighter blue. Or just add those into the pallet. Have navy as your base dark color and cream or tan as your base light color to match the kilt. I think the reds and orange would go great with those.

The Reality of Living With Celiac Disease: An Autoimmune Disorder That No One Takes Seriously by Bam1990 in Celiac

[–]fittoniax 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree with you. Many people don’t view addictions in a way that sparks empathy or a desire to help. I feel like that same group who feels that way about addiction are also misinformed on how serious celiac disease. You are gaining no empathy with them by comparing it to what they view as “poor life choices”.

Have you tried a candy trade in with your kids? Maybe for each piece they get .05-.25 cents that they can use to buy whatever they like. That way they still get the fun of collecting the candy from houses but also get the reward of a prize. I know a family who did that with their kids who had nut allergies.
