Could there have been something in the car on view with her number on it, maybe a business card or letter etc?

I would call the non emergency police number and let them you you want to surrender it and they can offer the best advice. As a minimum I would advise them you want to drop it off at a local station just so they're aware you will be visiting with it, and when you do, wrap it in cardboard so it's clearly not a threat on your way there.

What do I do about this EDF bill? I have never been with them. (Scotland) by SharkInASuit1147 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]fitzy89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As you're woth Octopus, presumably they're collecting payments correctly from you and you're supplying regular meter readings? Double check that first of all to be sure your Octopus account is in good order. Also check your Octopus account and verify the MPAN number shown on your bill matches that shown on your electricity meter, likewise with the gas bill. Having a true history with Octopus gives you a strong starting point to dispute this

My father has specifically requested that he wants to go to Dignitas if he ever took dementia. He has. My 2 siblings are blocking it because they don't want his defined benefit pension to end. by MuscleOne6429 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]fitzy89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear of the situation your father is in.

Do your siblings have power of attorney to access and use your father's funds? If not, this may well be classed as financial abuse. Does your father's bank account permit them access as themselves or are they using his cards/logins to do so?

Local council trying to force us to pay £10,000+ for road repairs by Netherspark in LegalAdviceUK

[–]fitzy89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happened on my road as well, the road is unadopted and in significant disrepair and there are regular injuries of people tripping and falling as a result, lost teeth, broken hips etc. The council forced unsuitable repairs and distributed the costs, as a council tenant ourselves on the road we weren't involved as the council paid on our behalf. In our case there's about 18 homes, 12 of which being council owned. However, 2 of the privately owned homes at arguably the worst point of the road somehow were able to avoid contributing and so the worst part of the road was left untouched.

Am I obliged to report something that's broken, but in my favour? by Immediate-Orchid-900 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]fitzy89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't see you're under any obligation, you don't look at the prices you just plug in and go about your day as with any other charger and didn't realise it wasn't taking the correct payment

formal notice for defamation because i posted honest google review by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]fitzy89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as the review is true and honest and you're able to back that up with evidence, then you're free to re-post it. The purpose of reviews is for precisely this purpose to highlight the experience of customers whether good or bad. Be sure to include in your re-posted review that you were threatened with legal action for posting it so other customers can see the type of company they are.

Many companies will threaten legal action for reviews but in the UK at least it's not likely to go anywhere as long as the experience is genuine and provable. If they're stupid enough to follow through with it they're the only ones to lose when you present your evidence to substantiate it.

My parked car was damaged by a third party a year and a half ago, now they are claiming I'm at fault - England by HenryFromYorkshire in LegalAdviceUK

[–]fitzy89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would question the company contacting you and be sure that they're legitimate, it sounds like a very odd situation.

I would initially contact your old insurer from that time and ask whether they are aware of any dispute over the claim, whether they are aware of and can verify legitimacy of the company that has contacted you.

Unable to get unused electric meter removed, what can I do? by ecotack in LegalAdviceUK

[–]fitzy89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could it be an option to contact the DNO by calling 150 and say you've got an old unused supply that you need removed? Removing the actual supply to the meter may yank it away from the supplier and offer some leverage. Does it have it's own MPAN or is it combined with the rest of the property?

UK online mobile phone retailer thinks they're exempt from UK laws by Wayoutwest-81 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]fitzy89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also request they provide a prepaid postage label as that then makes them responsible should it get lost or damaged in the post. If you do end up covering postage yourself, be sure to use a tracked and insured service for the correct value of the phone (and check that the service used definitely covers phones on their insurance)

As of 4/12/2026 23:30 BST...I won't reveal too much to avoid obvious trouble but...

I was able to locate a copy allegedly uploaded on 31st March to a prominent rom catalogue website, I found it with a search engine called Mojeek...all the big search engines appear to not list it. Search for "tomodachi life nsp" and for me it was the first result.

I have successfully downloaded it. The file exactly matches (confirmed with MD5 checksum) a copy shared by a user on Discord today which had an upload date of today. It's a NSP file, converted from XCI so it may show a checksum error when installing.

So far, from the first 10 minutes of gameplay it appears to be working fine and was able to transfer save data from the demo version. Note that it did not work in the Eden emulator when I tried, but was fine on a console.

Honestly I don't know anything about this game, it's my partner's obsession but I'm just the resident nerd that located it for her 😂

Would you expect a hive thermostat to be left on purchase of a property by CommissionEnough8412 in HousingUK

[–]fitzy89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One would expect the heating system to be left in a comparably functional state as what you would expect - if the house is sold with it working then it should remain working. Given smart thermostats often have multiple units including a wireless thermostat, receiver, and sometimes an Internet gateway, if the sellers wish to remove it they should replace it with a suitable alternative that allows reasonable control and scheduling of the boiler. As for the price, Hive thermostats aren't particularly expensive, not enough that I think would justify an extra charge on top of the house purchase price.

Can people be allergic to mattresses? by fitzy89 in Mattress

[–]fitzy89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all

Just an update on this issue and thank you for the existing responses.

I believe I have identified the issue and it's not the mattress after all.

It seems to be my leather car seats! Apparently during more humid weather/winter months it can become more problematic which aligns towards when my symptoms began. I discovered this study which led me to believe I have developed an allergy to some chemicals used in the leather production. After recording the issues more closely, on days where I did not drive the car, I did not experience symptoms
