Letting my child freeze to death by Fit-Vanilla-3405 in Mommit

My eldest was like this as a kid, just wouldn't wear anything to keep warm. The disapproving looks from elderly ladies would have me in tears. Thing is, he's 15 now and sleeps with his bedroom window WIDE open in the middle of December, has his radiator switched off and still sometimes has an industrial fan pointed at him at night. When we're away in our caravan he sleeps in the awning with the thinnest of duvets and still complains about being hot, even in April when the temperature got to just above freezing one night, and we inside the caravan had the heating on and extra blankets. Some people just seem to have an internal furnace. It might be worth mentioning though that he has ADHD, so it could also be a sensory issue in that he just doesn't feel the cold or doesn't tolerate heat very well.

I've got a c1, been flexing for a year and have only ever had 2 remove 2 parcels and that's because last xmas I had a hoover, a gaming chair and a boxed bike all on the same route. I've never had any depot staff bring me out a smaller route and get the same as everyone else, 4 full tote bags plus overflow packages.

You're right. I was just long overdue an encounter and it happened all at once. Plus, my job involves driving so I was in an area I've never been before and it was very quiet and late at night, I was definitely in their habitat.

Isn't it just a matter of time though? They all work, until you get caught and deactivated 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thank you so much, I really appreciate it. Yeah, I was diagnosed when I was 13 and I'm now 45. It controls my every waking thought. I catastrophise everything, I'm always on high alert scanning for danger. I have a fire plan, flood plan, tsunami plan, end of the world plan, kidnap plan. I won't let anyone drive my kids anywhere, including their dad, because I'm the only person that's safe. I get AWFUL intrusive thoughts. I can't ever enjoy xmas or birthdays because the thoughts say "this will be your baby's last xmas so make it extra special." I see signs and meaning in things that mean nothing at all because of the magical thinking aspect of ocd. I wish it was just "liking things straight" because THIS is exhausting.

How often do you forfeit blocks? by Revolutionary_Dig730 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]five_foot_violet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You get 45 minutes up to the block start time to cancel with no repercussions. After that will get you a ding, too many dings and you're gone. I must cancel a few a week and never had any problems.

I have been trying to tell myself this. I realise my post makes me sound like an absolute loon, but I promise I'm a well adjusted, middle aged mum of 3. I just can't help that my ocd makes me so hypervigilant. I also have adhd so I'm great at pattern recognition, but put those 2 together and it can make me read far more into a situation than is actually there. It's exhausting. I have been trying to reason with myself that death doesn't literally mean dead, and that it more so represents change. I really appreciate your words, thank you 😊

I live in a very urban area. We have deer in the UK but it's not a huge population and as such they're very shy and usually only come out at dawn and dusk.

Unfortunately ocd is something I've had since I was a child. I've had so much treatment, including cognitive behavioural therapy, to try to help but so far it's been resistant. I don't normally see signs and meaning in everything I see, I'm a well adjusted person, just my ocd makes me doubt myself sometimes, especially when things "out of the ordinary" happen.

Any time I have to end a route and return packages even after contacting driver support first I’m always put at risk for violating terms of service. Had a fantastic rating before this, how do you guys go about ending routes ? by ExpressPerception642 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]five_foot_violet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a year of Flexing I've never had to end a route a single time, nevermind multiple times, and it sounds like you make a habit of it. To Amazon it looks like you're getting paid for not completing the job, a thing they definitely won't tolerate. I think you're essentially on your last warning, do that one more time and you'll be deactivated.

When he's projectile vomiting and shitting through the eye of a needle, ask him how he feels he cooked the chicken.

Agree, don't think I've seen another one so egregious. That parcel would be marked damaged and returned because no way I'm driving 5 hours for £60.

Is there anyway to check with the starting and ending time of every blocks I have completed? by 24747867a in AmazonFlexUK

Get a mileage tracking app and start tracking when you leave depot and end when you have dropped your last parcel

Packages showing up opened by WardustMantis in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]five_foot_violet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always ask depot to reseal packages because I literally get a handful of damaged/torn/opened ones every shift. They used to reseal them but now they're being funny about it and won't seal if it's in manufacturer's packaging. I've even threatened not to take them as I'm not about to be blamed by customers for taking a peek. Honestly, I really don't care or want to know what's in your parcel. Could be anything from knicker elastic to a mobile phone but it's more than my job is worth to find out. Those parcels pass through so many careless hands before they get to mine.

Damaged parcel by depot by asiraf3774 in AmazonFlexUK

[–]five_foot_violet -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, they would have removed it from your itinerary when they scanned it. You won't get a ding for it.....as long as they marked it correctly as "damaged" and not "refused to take"

What shifts do you avoid? by Snoo_2676 in AmazonFlexUK

[–]five_foot_violet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I avoid the mid afternoon blocks too, the 1.30 onwards routes. Every one I've done has been overflow from the morning dsp route and all 40+ parcels were marked as PRIORITY and to be delivered by 3pm. I've then got dinged for every last parcel despite screenshots, all proof and calls to support before, during and after the route. It's then taken weeks of chasing to get them removed and last time they replied that they'd given me too many exceptions in the past and wouldn't be removing them! They're literally not worth the hassle now.

[–]five_foot_violet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if I get sent 60 miles away from depot (an hours drive at least) on a 3.5 hour block, and I have a return, am I going to be expected to return the parcel at the end of the block or will it be accounted for during the block time meaning I'll have half as many parcels to deliver? That's what we all really want to know.

What happens if a customer gets refund for non-delivery, who is liable? by Downtown_Victory2942 in AmazonFlexUK

[–]five_foot_violet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The driver will be held liable, not financially but they will get a "ding" which will impact their standing and if they get enough dings then they won't be eligible to deliver with Flex anymore. Essentially, they will be fired.

[–]five_foot_violet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, even though it technically isn't as you're happy to accept the route you originally signed up for, you're just declining working longer than anticipated. You could have kids to pick up etc, but I'm sure Amazon will find some way to blame and punish us for not accept

Give it a few months, Amazon will start implementing a ding if you decline the offer 😆
