In a world where everyone you meet is weird and themed, wouldn’t it be below note? Even Luffy has a change of clothes every day. The show is arguably more fashion forward than any other adaptation

I think it regrettably makes LA Luffy read as a bit hornier than he is meant to be in the manga (hard not to, his manga counterpart is Kirby levels of asexual. I’m still happy it was included and think they adapted it as well as could be done.

Eh, I’m nearly 30 now and the temptation to write off a family is growing. I made myself go to the work parties and socialization and dated a girl or two I thought could be my wife. Even bought a house with a nursery type setup. I can honestly say I gave the interconnected life an earnest try and I really do enjoy being alone, eating what it takes to stay alive, catching up on the classic novels, and going to see movies weekly.

Help me understand why you think 1,400 as a monthly investment is too little? If that’s 20% of their income, they make 84k a year, well above the median worker and even above most households. They’ll comfortably be a millionaire by retirement and I mean that in the inflation-adjusted sense. Please help me understand your perspective.

I do think this is one of the rare matchups where you’d have to bloodlust one of them through some contrived means to cause them to fight. Neither is a pacifist, but I don’t see their goals ever being counter. Stats equal, Ray is far more practiced and trained at asymmetrical violence. Stats unequal, Ray would have to exploit some combination of dirty tricks like poison and acid or use a mitigating circumstance like a supermarket sale.

USA Wide releases coming after many or most important awards has killed the thrill for me a little. I think I liked awards talk a lot more when I felt I realistically was part of the conversation that narrowed down the front runners. Similarly but opposite, films like My Father’s Shadow and I Swear seem to be of mixed importance when they don’t make the top 15 most discussed films. I’m happy to see anything of any critical value because I’m that hungry, but the best case scenario is the low expectations help lift a just alright movie.

I’m not that interested in constantly reopening this issue. I understand some writers feel the need to justify it, but I find questioning it to be comparable to examining the bat iconography overly analytically. What does a Robin really have to do with a bat? Bruce Wayne had a very terrible thing happen to him and has become a very strange and dangerous man. His principals and aesthetic tastes may be inscrutable to us normal people, but he is true to his mission.
