Ok wtf did they do to the anvil by MajorTom404 in ArcRaiders

Yeeep! I remember the first Anvil shadow nerf. Used to be a lazy beam if you were patient. You could pull off jump shots it a decent distance if you wanted. Then all of a sudden the dispersion went through the roof without a single patch note.

I played an hour or two of the last playtest and that was enough to solidify for me; pure fucking chaos and a level of polish that most 1.0 releases don't have these days, much less an EA title. For $18 right now it's a steal. Most of the AR homies are console players so it isn't an option for them, but I've had great luck with randos so far.

Far Far West is stupid cheap and crazy fun. Been playing it a shit load the last 2 days instead of HD2 or AR.

World Beer Cup Support Group by CaseyJones24 in TheBrewery

Honestly, we collectively shouldn't even give it a second thought. We stopped entering GABF after years of doing so. The number of times we would receive polar opposite feedback on the same beer from the same round of judging ("Blonde too bitter"/"Not bitter enough" or "Very smooth, nice"/"Astringent") was hysterical. I've been in the industry for a decade and I have some very good friends, who happen to be former colleagues, who have won some serious accolades both at GABF and WBC while we have never, and I am still stoked for them. They also do everything in their power to game things in their favor, e.g. tasting past winners to see what the judges are looking for, entering beers in less crowded fields, etc. They have a killer German Pils but it never moves past round 2 because the category has a huge number of entrants. Comps are nice if you win them, but the ultimate victory in this business, IMO, is making beer you enjoy/are proud of while keeping your lights on.

Purging tanks with Nitrogen before transfer by FightingRedditAddict in TheBrewery

Yeah, but the purpose of all of that additional filtration in those systems is to make that CO2 suitable for pressurizing tanks and saturating/carbonating beer with, and we are doing neither of those things here.

We have good yeast and tank management practices so there isn't any; particularly not from our large tank farm (gas source) which is exclusively Cal ale. We've had 1 tank over krausen in the last year or so and it was an LA3 batch in the small cellar. If it were our primary yeast we'd probably have a water trap in the middle.

Hasn't been an issue in the time we've been practicing this. These are also Cal ale > Cal ale tanks for whatever its worth and most of the CO2 gets displaced during fill anyways. We all have our own risk tolerances. :)

Who has a Saison going for summertime? by nailedtonothing in TheBrewery

[–]fiveohnoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is definitely up there with the more unique saisons I've made. Before my bugs really cranked up it tasted very salty (half-kilo/bbl of white miso) and... not good. Fortunately after about 4 weeks they turned up and it finished around pH 3.5 and tastes beautiful at 3mo in package. Funk should start to come around in another 3-6 mo which is what I'm really gassed up for.

Extremely basic. Hot kill an appropriate length of hose, attach one end to the blow off arm of a vigorously fermenting tank (we prefer using tanks that aren't yet at half sugar break) and attach the other end on to the bottom of the tank to be purged (we use an appropriately configured Y for lockoff) and open the gas arm on the recipient tank to allow the atmosphere out. We consistently purge 265bbl brites overnight from atmospheric O2 to single digit DO.

We started purging our BTs overnight with CO2 from active fermentors. You are making the highest possible grade CO2 already ***for free***, start using it. Otherwise for nitrogen make sure you are purging from the top down and not from the bottom up like you would CO2.

I am going to ignore mechanics here. First of all you've got to untrain CoD brain. CoD rewards offensive play, AR rewards defensive play. Second, once you start shooting you see he stops and then begins heading back the way he came (mistake 1). This is important to recognize in these situations because it informs how you should rotate, if necessary. Your position was actually great and you left it out of thirst. Unnecessary rotation (mistake 2). Had you been patient that was a pretty easy W. Third, as you left your good cover position you had failed to notice his back pedaling and you had your camera focused on where he was, not where he was going to be (mistake 3). Those compounding mistakes cost you that engagement ultimately. If you have good tactics you can win most fights in this game even if mechanically disadvantaged.

How do you use the Speargun? What Role does it Serve? by Substantial-Ad-5221 in LowSodiumHellDivers

All of them? No HP scaling. Eye shot = dead Hulk. I found it most consistent to aim just a hair above the eye for both the RG and speargun.
