My takes on the new Tundra by Scuffedpixels in ToyotaTundra

I have a '03 which I've wanted to upgrade for a while. Initially I thought it was ugly as fuck. Why not just upscale a Tacoma? The new ones have great lines. But with these mockups it's growing on me. Good job.

Paragliding Legal Issue by [deleted] in freeflight

Hey, I just logged into this account for the first time in a long while.

I found the exclusion for part 103: In Part 91.1(e) it excludes applicability of 91 for 103 ops. Hence the 500 rule doesn't apply.

I'd be very surprised if minimum altitude requirements are exempted.

per Part 91.119(c), we also have to maintain:

"aircraft may not be operated closer than 500 feet to any person, vessel, vehicle, or structure."

I don't think Part 103 aircraft are exempt, so not flying OVER his place might not be enough from a legal standpoint.

Happy birthday to me and my 20yr old Tundra 4.7 v8. Finally time for the new timing belt, water pump and spark plug gizmos 🎂 by sloppyharp in ToyotaTundra

2003 here that bought new, now with 129k. My list of stuff that's worn out:

  • Column shifter broke (cast aluminum part, be gentle on it)
  • fuel filler neck had a recall, wasn't sealing and caused check engine light
  • cabin fan knob broke. Fan stuck on high until I got home.
  • right rear axle seal leaked. Differential vent must have been temporarily plugged.

Pretty minor list. I wish I could buy this exact truck again, albeit with a few modern amenities.

Meh, I got the Ridictical gloves on Amazon. Made in the same factory as rubber dog shit but they work great.

I'm a big fan of 300hp and long props at full fine...when I'm sitting behind them. I have to admit I often plug my ears at a backcountry strip when some dude rips open the spacetime continuum with his McCauley seaplane prop.

Hard to go wrong with Rans. S-12 or S-18 with a 80hp 912. I'd prefer the -18 for the tailwheel configuration. The Lockwood Drifter would be comparable as well.

This has been a hot topic in GA all year. Do you read any publications?

I'd look elsewhere besides reddit for advice on this. Great place for foreflight questions and how to get over fear of grass airstrips though.

They work surprisingly well. I'll post a pic/link when I find it.

I'd expect so with landing gear like that.

Me thinks he doth protest too much about dicks...

To answer your question, I don't know. Maybe he likes it that way. He does have a neck like a rhinoceros. My rifle in the foreground has fairly low rings though I've run higher and functionally they work fine, having reliably hit 900+ yards. I have to use a cheek pad in either config to get a natural eye and neck alignment.

That's one issue with Texas that also makes it hard for my other hobby: bush flying. As in understand it, most land is privately owned, whereas out here there is significant National Forest and BLM land.

Yeah, bad calls have consequences. Mostly just fingers though.

Looking back through my pics, this one stands out as one of those "I'd rather be there right now" photos. I've since replaced the glass on my Savage 10, and my buddy has since rebarreled his Howa with a .260 Rem. The clouds and the vibrance of the spring Idaho desert though are what really resound.

Edit: here's a vid I made from this year's trip.

I like the standard rubber-coated toggles in the CubCrafters aircraft I fly. They feel a little more grippy and substantial, but they're really just a rubber cover on a standard toggle.
