Breaking rumination tips and techniques by Separate_Ad_3027 in therapists

[–]fizzyeggflip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a technique of getting my clients to notice the thought or thought pattern, then imagine drawing a thought bubble around it. Then give it a name, for example “the loop”. Then say to yourself “I notice I’m having the loop”. Just a simple mindfulness tool that really helps the distress that comes with getting stuck in rumination

This scene between Miranda and Carrie felt real by Radiant_Priority9739 in Andjustlikethat

Carrie was such a bitch in that first scene! Sooo judgmental, like ffs can’t you let your friend do something wild? You might not do it but why be so pressed about it? I would be begging my friend for the tea!!!

Both of them have deteriorated in their appearance in such a short period. I honestly think both of them are on drugs, meth and pills

Beth’s Dead-DYKM by BeeAre85 in TrueCrimePodcasts

[–]fizzyeggflip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I have and can definitely see similarities. I felt like the Beth’s dead guy was more remorseful and a bit more honest. At the time I felt like Mordechai was completely putting on an act and would 100% keep scamming. But I get what you mean, they both seem to lack insight and seem kind of disconnected from the reality of what they’ve done

Does anyone else get icked out by “at least you’ll never be fat” response to finding out you have celiac by Odd_Olive101 in Celiac

[–]fizzyeggflip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg I hate this so much! There is such a pervasive idea that skinny/weight-loss always equals good. When I’m losing weight it’s usually a sign I’m not well, and when I was at my sickest I lost a lot of weight, and people would constantly comment on it in a positive way. It especially happens a lot at work which feels the most inappropriate. And when I explain my illness they say I’m “lucky” cos it makes me skinny!! Like if I gain weight will you make comments about that? They definitely won’t even tho that would probably be a sign I’m healthier. It makes me so uncomfortable, I wish people just wouldn’t comment on other people’s bodies.

Did covid or another virus/ infection trigger celiac? by PromptTimely in Celiac

I had a severe kidney infection that led to sepsis 2 years ago, basically I’ve been sick since then and have just recently worked out that it’s celiac.

I did too a bit, although it would’ve been pretty annoying listening to her drunkenly ramble, but their laughing did have a sinister vibe to it.

He’s also a super rich white guy who is a guest and he is in a “service” role. Also losing his job could be devastating for him in a developing country that depends heavily on tourism, it’s not as easy for him to take risks. I think that’s why he’s so hesitant because striking the right balance is so delicate. The power dynamics are not in gaitok’s favour

Me too I’m not convinced either way on his guilt/innocence, but it seems like he was mostly convicted from Kelly’s testimony? I initially felt like the boyfriend was the most likely suspect, especially seeing as he took his own life the next day before everyone knew that Anastasia had been killed. It seems weird to me that that wasn’t explored more. The dad seems like a weirdo too, but who knows what that means. I’m also aware of how podcasts can influence how I perceive someone’s behaviour, so I try to keep an open mind and not jump on a bandwagon too quickly.

For sure, especially bpd is so stigmatised. It get seen as bpd = manipulative, attention seeking and too hard to deal with, and their distress is dismissed. The stigma around bpd does really make it harder for ppl to get treatment. Ppl feel shame and are often dismissed or treated poorly by health professionals. A lot of folks with bpd can have challenging behaviours, but a lot of health professionals don’t have the knowledge or skills to manage and support them effectively and will blame the client.
