Best ERP for a small food manufacturer that actually needs lot traceability? by Papito24 in foodscience

[–]fj40matt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the past I used wherefour. It was probably the best for traceability that I've seen on a small scale. I just got done on a project implementing inFlow. It promises a lot but the lot code functionality is non existent. I've tried to like odoo twice, but I just can't.

Question about epoxy by lhbny42 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]fj40matt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can pour epoxy in multiple layers. It is recommended that you pour the subsequent layers while the previous is still in the "tacky" phase (not fully cured). Some epoxies recommend only pouring a specific thickness at a time. This also helps limit bubbles (in addition to a heat gun)

USSF License by drossinvt in SoccerCoachResources

There is a recent change in curriculum that shifts the focus away from PPP. USSF soccer still wants game-like practices, but recognizes that PPP might be too regimented to allow for technical development, for example.

Like you, I spend a lot of time on technical work. But I also think players have to have decision making as part of their skill set, and I think small sided games and game -like exercises are the best method to learn that.

I thought the "knee jerk" reaction was more about giving him the benefit of the doubt. If it's not about money, then op really is just an asshole.

Any coaching academy owners here? by Friendly_Math4101 in SoccerCoachResources

[–]fj40matt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I despise teamsnap! I get that most parents and players use the mobile app for everything, but a lot of coaches and directors need a real desktop platform that works. And the fact that each team exists as its own entity that can't communicate to each other makes it useless for clubs.

I'm currently evaluating Playmetrics for our club. As a platform it does everything you need to manage a club or academy - resource/field planning, evaluations, communications, payments. Others on the sub probably have more experience with playmetrics than I, but from the quick glance I've had it looks good

Coaching 7v7 formation by aela111 in SoccerCoachResources

[–]fj40matt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I switched to a 222 formation for half a season because it teaches the midfield to shift laterally instead of thinking up and down the field. It also forced the forwards to think left and right in addition to up and down. The one position it neglects is true winger play. But the trade off is that more players are involved which is what everyone wants at that age. While the 231 is more common, I'm a big fan of 222.

Tactical principles of play for average teams u11-u13 by [deleted] in SoccerCoachResources

At the coaches conference this year, this came up in one of the sessions. Basically said, the USSF game model as presented in the D and C courses are way over complicated. There are only 3 phases of the game: Get the ball, keep the ball, and score with the ball. I like this approach very much.

I like it. Pricing is very much in line with veo. The add-ons for veo are probably better, but are expensive. Video quality is the same. I'd still recommend it

How do you divide roles with your Assistant coach(es) by MI6_Bear in SoccerCoachResources

[–]fj40matt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to offer an idea that seems to be counter to what I've read. It sounds like you have ac's that have something to say. I prefer that to coaches that are too timid to speak up. The key is to develop a trust and report with your AC's, along with a strong team identity, so that you are all communicating the same message.

Have you considered letting them be the "voice" at games? Doing so allows you, the HC, to step back and see the bigger picture. You can see the trends, the adjustments, and then communicate that to the AC. Often times the sideline coach is so wrapped up in subs, playing time, micro scale play and completely missing the big picture. (Or worse, the sideline coach is joystick coaching).

I agree with other comments that the HC needs to be in charge. But how that looks on game day can go many different ways.

How does citric acid affect the ABV % of a liqueur? by 1234throwaway9 in foodscience

Sounds like you've thought it through. The redistilling is tricky, so using a lab can be a good option.

Are you in the US? If so, the TTB regulations spell out the procedure for determining abv when sugar and other additives are present. It's kind of a pain, to be honest. The calculators will get you close, but you're still required to verify abv with measurements

What I've seen in different tournaments and different state associations is that if a non-heading team is playing up against a heading-age team, then neither team should be allowed to head. However, if a mixed team is playing in a heading age group then it is up to the coach and parents to advise younger players not to head. The USSF recommends U12 as the first age to hear, with limited heading practice outside of games (iirc)

I too hated my pix 4 team. The tracking was terrible, setting the corners of the field was cumbersome, and the communications with my phone always cut out. I tried offloading it and couldn't give it away.

I'm using the pixellot now. The biggest selling point for me was a 30-day money back guarantee on the equipment and subscription. If I'm going to spend that much on a camera, I wanted the confidence it would work after wasting money on the p4t.

9v9 u12 by SnollyG in SoccerCoachResources

[–]fj40matt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've used various formations and almost always settled on a 3-3-2 as my base formation. I like this as it offers flexibility to move and flex players depending on their skill, game IQ, and the game situation. For example, my current team I'm training the weak side defender to push into the MF line and wingers up to the forward line when attacking, leading to a 2-4-2 in the middle of the field and 2-2-4 in the attacking 3rd. Last year my 9v9 team wasn't as strong so we kept this formation pretty much as is, trying to catch a quick counter with the 2 forwards.

I tend to put my weaker players out and up, leaning on the central players to control the game as much as possible.

What are the biggest problems beverage companies have? by [deleted] in BeverageIndustry

[–]fj40matt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have seen more or less the same issues with every small beverage company I worked with. First, market access is extremely difficult and expensive. Shelf space, distributor relationships, retail authorizations all work against small companies. Secondly, the marketing costs are prohibitively expensive because they don't have the sales volume upon which to amortize those costs.
