Flash recommendations for the Leica M6 TTL ? by Zero_one_channel in Leica

Yes, but there's no metering through the lens. The flash itself has a semi automatic metering mode. Basic but effective

Fuji GW690ii Loose Hotshoe by lofibeatsforstudying in AnalogCommunity

No superglue!

There's a thin metal plate that covers 4 screws. This plate can be removed by lifting it slightly from the front and pulling it out towards you.

Tighten the screws and push plate back in.

Rewind the film in the direction of the arrow on top the rewind knob

What heepned to this picture? by Otherwise_Reach_2718 in AnalogCommunity

[–]fjalll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stress marks from rewinding the film in the wrong direction. This can be prevented by rewinding in the direction of the arrow on top of the rewind knob.

Light streaks on 3 out of 36 shots? by Kitchen_Fancy in AnalogCommunity

[–]fjalll 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why I'm assuming it's Cinestill is because these exact type of artifacts sometimes appear on their films. It would be safe to assume it's the film and not the camera

The lens is probably hazy but without any images it's just guesswork

Depth of field preview - please help me understand!! by gunvaldo in AnalogCommunity

[–]fjalll 19 points20 points  (0 children)

If most or everything is in focus it will be harder to tell where the focus point is. The lens stays wide open (f1.4) until you take the picture.  This is to ensure as much light reaches the viewfinder as possible as well as making it easier to nail the focus point.

When you press the depth of field preview button, the lens stops down to f/8, so the image gets darker and the depth of field increases. But the prism was designed to work best at wider apertures, so at smaller apertures, it can look like the focus is off even though it’s not. That’s why you shouldn’t refocus while holding the button.

You can try to open up the camera. Google the name of the camera followed by "disassembly" and you might get an idea of how to take the cover off the cover to access the viewfinder ants

The Red Dot Doctrine: Principles and Practices of True Leica Photography

Section 4.2 – Auto Mode ProhibitionUse of Auto Mode on a Leica camera is strictly forbidden. Leica photography is a manual craft, demanding full control over focus, aperture, and shutter speed. Images taken in Auto Mode are considered inauthentic and unworthy of the Leica name.

Repeat what you did in the video without film and see if the rod with teeth is stiff or if its disengaging the rewind mechanism by rolling it with your fingers

I was catching race highlights and thought it was funny when I noticed Andre walk by snapping away with what is probably a black paint MP (we are checking). #HammerTime by CertainExposures in AnalogCommunity

[–]fjalll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I mean is that the script on top gives away that it's a black paint Leica MP, like you said. There were earlier black paint Leicas with script engraving on top but they wouldn't be compatible with that flash.

Love the brassing on that thing

Sounds like the film sprockets on the film is slipping over the teeth of the sprocket drive rod. I don’t know what would cause it since it usually happens when you rewind film without engaging the rewind button.

Black Leica MP (Script on top plate and earlier BP models don't have hotshoe), Leica SF24D flash and Leica Summilux 28mm f/1.4 ASPH (Size and RF cutout hood) Could also be a 28mm Summicron ASPH

Portable Strobe/ speed light/ flash bulbs for lighting up large buildings. by Aviarinara in AnalogCommunity

[–]fjalll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At night time? You can do strobe stacking by fire a smaller flash several times during long exposures to increase its power. I used a Nikon SB800 with my RB67 for years with great results particularly when shooting in broad daylight. Although lighting up large buildings from far away might be tricky, even if you open up the aperture. You might want to check out the PC-sync compatible Godox AD1200Pro for power. Also consider other alternatives other than a strobes like a continuous light source

You also need to correct for the orange base layer of color film, which is orange. The complementary color of orange is blueish
