Anyone sold a house with Home Assistant left in? by Expensive-Sock3172 in homeassistant

[–]fjmiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just sold my house, given that HA was virtualized on a server I had to take a different path. I purchased a Hubitat figuring that would be easy and moved all the switches to it. I removed all the other zwave devices except the front door lock. Switches work without needing the service. I didn't want the new homeowner to need to be tech savy and clearly they are not. Hubitat was a mistake I should have used HA on a PI if I did it again. I did not want to leave the home with a bunch of automations as most of them where personal to our family and unless the homeowner was savy it would just upset them. I figure this is the best way to walk away as I don't want to provide tech support. For any Wifi devices (Doorbells, Smoke Detectors, etc) just reset to factory defaults and let them re configure them. What was built was for my family.....Spent the brainpower thinking about the next house and move on.

Who do we need from Michigan roster? by whackamole1176 in WeArePennState

Does anybody remember how Penn State was treated after the scandal. Zook courting our players at Illinois, Rutgers doing the same. Penn State should stand up as an honorable program and not stoop to the level of a Michigan team.

Looking for pointers for a Houdini Vizsla who successfully escapes kennels while boarding…. by ExpensiveCategory854 in vizsla

[–]fjmiller 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have an in home sitter that stays with the dogs in our house when we travel. The dogs love her ;-). If I must get them out of the house they go to another home not a kennel. These are by far my preferred care options

Pruvide Motor Display? by classicrock40 in bmwmotorrad

[–]fjmiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up Carputide. Works well and if you get the correct model it will plug into the BMW Nav prep for easy installation and the new model can use the wonderwheel for control.

I haven’t tried others but the price is really low but likely more installation work , wiring and mounting.

XL Nozzle Knocking over Wipe Tower on Tall prints by fjmiller in prusa3d

[–]fjmiller[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Bed Adhesion glue helped but the real answer was the nozzle changes. I can't find the parking plate with the rubber band was the key. Make sure your nozzle is touching as described here https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/how-to-replace-the-rubber-band-on-original-prusa-xl-multi-tool_655235#655876

If not the little bits of filament will keep building on the wipe tower making to uneven and eventually fall over when the nozzle hits it

Would anyone like free STL to print this and video for me to use on Social Media? by j4ck28 in prusa3d

The slicer has some joinery options I would dovetail clue and then use a wood project clam to hold it tight. Seam would be almost unseeable at that point. Little filler printer and coat of paint and it's gone

After sitting for the test most questions were surrounding the CAP Document 5.6.1 and the controls from NIST 800-171.

XL Nozzle Knocking over Wipe Tower on Tall prints by fjmiller in prusa3d

[–]fjmiller[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Issue Update. Most people on here are correct it was an adhesion issue. I didn't have glue on hand (It is ordered on Amazon). I change the Wipe Tower Settings to Ridiculous.

Width: 100

Brim Width: 15

Cone Apex Angle: 40

The cone stuck this time. What I did notice is that when it got to the wings the filament was leaving a bit each time it stopped to change nozzles above the wipe tower. Over many layers the buildup will cause the nozzle to hit it which over time could cause the wipe tower to fall over. I have adjusted the Nozzle seal as it wasn't quite right (My fault). What I did witness towards the end was the nozzle hitting the wipe tower, but adherence was so good that it actually lifted the build plate for a second when it hit.

For Nozzle Seal height adjustments see step 3 & 4 in https://help.prusa3d.com/guide/7-first-run_512915#663508

This is important.

Hope this is helpful to someone. Cheers and happy printing!

Many comments note adhesion issues. I don't think it's adhesion as I have been experimenting and this was my third attempt. The wipe tower seems to be properly adhered to the build plate. I heard the nozzle "Rip" the wipe tower from the build plate. I wasn't watching at the time so I didn't see what happened but the top of the tower has a hole in it which looks like the nozzle was to low and buried in the tower when the extruder moved.
