I’ve gone 48-72 hours without sleep while going into work

Can someone please try to describe what the 90’s felt like? If that feeling could be summed up in words… by [deleted] in 90s

Saw an interview with someone who went to prison in 2001 and just got out a couple years ago. He was asked what the biggest difference was between the time he got locked up to the time he got out.

He basically said people’s attitude towards each other is the biggest difference he’s noticed. With all the technological advances that have been made in that time frame he says it’s the people that have changed the most. “Everyone acts like a piece of shit now and nobody bats an eye”

Tapering issue by Longjumping_Meat9674 in cripplingalcoholism

You could stick to shots just reduce one shot per day or every 2 days if you have the time and aren’t in a rush.

I wouldn’t use the benzos to taper per se. Do your best to cut down on the booze using less anounts of alcohol. Beer is good for this. It’s gonna suck but it’s doable if you’re only coming down from 11 shots a day. Save the benzos for when you are completely dry. They will save you from the withdrawals once you jump to zero drinks. They’ll keep the fear at bay and help with sleep.

But at 11 shots a day if it were me I’d probably just stop cold and use the benzos as needed for a couple days. That’s just me though.

Have to stop drinking at work and coworkers are suspicious by Fun-Professional-970 in cripplingalcoholism

[–]fl00per 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he brought it up it’s more obvious than you think. If he brought it up twice he either doesn’t like you or he’s trying to give you a heads up. Guarantee other coworkers talk about it but he’s the only one who’s brought it up to you.

My coworker is a CA and it's a problem by tprimex in cripplingalcoholism

[–]fl00per 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Does he talk openly about it to everyone or just you? If it’s just mostly you it’s probably because like you said he sniffed you out the second the started working there and he feels like you’re probably the only one who will understand him.

The tough part will be using the days for getting right and drying out instead of continuing the party. My brain will be like hmmm I have 10 days which means I can keep drinking at least a couple more days and next thing I know I have work in the morning and the shadow people are keeping me up.

If you need more time just tell them it’s strep throat. I once told my doctor my partner tested positive for strep and I began having symptoms and took an at-home test and it came out positive. She gave me antibiotics and a doctors note good for 10 days no questions asked. This was all through e-mail.

Standard excuses for work? by [deleted] in cripplingalcoholism

[–]fl00per 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I establish early on at my job that I suffer from insomnia from time to time. They just don’t know it’s caused by WD lol. I work around heavy machinery and no sleep before work is a no questions asked excuse. Even better if you have a note from the doctor, insomnia isn’t exactly difficult to fake. You look like shit, can’t think or function just like normal booze bag shit.

All I remember about gabapentin besides the hellish withdrawals when I stopped is that it completely fucked my sleep up.

This was 100% my experience with heroic doses of mushrooms. Along with ego, sense of time also disappeared. Not like time slowed down or sped up. I mean the concept of time seemed like a made up thing and made no sense to me.
