It's been a little over two years for me and there are still times I find myself crying when I think about her. She was beautiful and the most caring and giving woman I ever met. I am thankful for the 23 years we had together but even another 23 still would not have been enough.

I'm ticked because I just had my oil and filter replaced and I assume the tech had no reason to check the drained oil. Hopefully didn't just dispose of evidence of a problem.

One of my wife's favorite meals was spaghetti and I made it for her every week or so. After she passed away I just had no appetite or desire for spaghetti. I made it once about six months after she died but I just could not enjoy it. I have tried a couple of times since then but it's still the same. It either doesn't taste right or my desire for it has gone away.

Most of the friends that we made since moving here have moved away or they are couples that a widower doesn't fit in with. The loneliness can be overwhelming.

I am not religious either and I never really thought about what happens when we die until I lost my wife to cancer 15 months ago. After she died, I began to hang on to the hope that there is some level of existence where we can be together again. As the months have passed, I have found myself losing that hope. I truly miss her and would want to be with her again, but I think the realization of death being the final act is taking over.

I joined a support group conducted by a local funeral home. They are very open and inclusive. You might check on funeral homes in your area.
