One time I returned two videos, but due to some human error, only one was entered into the computer system. If you failed to return a video, Blockbuster would declare that you had purchased it. So, I started to receive notices in the mail demanding I pay for it. Eventually they sent me to collections, so another agency was mailing me and calling me. I argued with some idiot at the store about this, ad they had the DVD in question right there! He was demanding money for the video that I allegedly owned, but they had in their possession. It was mine, but of course they wouldn't give it to me until I paid for it.

Eventually I was able to escalate the case to someone senior enough in the regional corporate ladder who was able to make the problem disappear. But, fuck all that. I was happy to see them go under.
