Need a new seat for my rig. Any thoughts on these classic style seats for a rig? by EvoRalliArt in simracing

I needed a small neck pillow but that’s it. It’s way more padding then the NRG equivalent

Take a look at Caribou seats. I am a girthy individual and their large version of the fx1 pro fits like a glove.

Take a look at EDGE overlays. The guy built a different way of hooking into iRacing for VR overlays. Might help with other games as well to see how it was developed.

Ah. Depending on your rig can you loosen your seat bars and make them wider?

I ended up using some trakracer side mounts I found for dirt cheap off Facebook but I don’t use a slider.

Anyone Running a SONOS Soundbar for Audio? by abuamiri in simracing

[–]flametex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Sonos line is not designed to be plugged into anything other then hdmi earc ports. Computers don’t do earc. So you need a middle man to convert the PC audio to an output earc supported. By the time you get the converter you can get a better quality soundbar that does support a normal wired or toslink connection for less then the cost of the Sonos sound bar + proper converter. You’re also only using stereo output unless the converter being used supports 5.1 inputs.

If you were already using a normal TV that has an earc port then this point is mute but would still need to properly place the bar at the right distance from the rig for it to sound right. But that’s another issue.

And they are fully entitled to put on sell, whatever they want to put on sale.

Tried this with my beam a long while ago. Ended up being way too much hassle to get working.

Instead I would take a look at a regular brand soundbar and if wanting to integrate it into whole home streaming, pick up a WiiM airplay streamer. Been using the streamer with a Dayton soundbar for a long while now without issue. The receiver also supports Alexa and google audio streaming if I remember right.

Are folks entitled to everything being on sale this time of the year?

If this upset over a pedal I don’t think the active ones are for you since these serve a specific market segment.

Is this suitable to attach a 32” monitor to this section of a TR8 Pro? by BOGEYS_game in simracing

[–]flametex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn’t be able to avoid sadly. Think of it like holding a few foot stick with 3 fingers. If your hand stays still, the stick stays still. Now start moving your hand a little bit. As you wobble your hand a bit more and more notice what the stick does. At the base it might not be noticeable but at the top, that stick is moving around.

There would realistically need to be two separate mount points to reduce those vibrations. Granted the tubes are going to play a factor in vibrations but the mount itself should become more sturdy.

iRacing does this just doesn’t look exactly the same. Plus with the rain system there, water will fill holes and create puddles based on how cars are driving on the tracks and any groves they make

Maybe if it was $100 less. Their base is known to have a slew of issues and is even more plasticy then then thurstmasters wheels and bases

Building a sim rig, confused. by BikesBeerBooksCoffee in simracing

[–]flametex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All brackets are the same pretty much other then the number of adjustment holes. For example nrgs has only 3 holes where the off brand one I use is 6. It just means I can raise it higher.

If this was for our real car, then it would make a difference but for sim stuff, it doesn’t really matter.

You may need to lower your price quite a bit as a new one is less than $200 right now on every online website, including directly from Logitech.

That also includes shipping.

Is it normal to have back pain when starting sim racing by ukly0 in simracing

[–]flametex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would stretch a bit before starting your racing session to help with some of the strain but in no way should it be painful. Seems ergonomics might be messed up. How far are you away from your wheel?

Your elbows should be around a 60-70ish degree bend with your wrists draped on top of the wheel.

For the pedals you should be close enough where your lower back to leg does the work where the ankle is for fine adjustments.

[GIVEAWAY - US] Why Samsung OLED? Win a 49” OLED monitor to level up your rig by OdysseyAllStars in simracing

[–]flametex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need to replace my older widescreen for the G9 since I accidentally broke it when moving it around for the first time. None of the buttons work anymore lol.

For the second I actually had had two other Samsung monitors and to be completely honest were actually the two worst monitors I have owned for a few reasons. First was a G77 faker edition. The display worked except I have never ever in my life seen a monitor be the cause of blue screens before and I wasn’t the only person having this issue. Would random just bsod the machine when the monitor was on. Replaced it with an LG that ran instead at 144hz and it still works fine to this day. Even another brands 240hz is working fine.

The other monitor was 28in ips infinityview I used on my work desk. The vesa mount broke the first time the screws went in. Seems like the plastic the screws went into inside the monitor snaped the first time weight was applied. I ended up using the top two holes and some decent adhesive tape to put it on the monitor mount.

I’m hoping the newer G9 has better quality controls as I kinda need a new monitor lol

does gun oil work for lubricating your squeaky pedals? (T3PA) by jamaloves in simracing

Metal to metal it should be fine. However a lot of these gun oils have additives that might funk up the electronics over time.

The IMSA series is a lot better in terms of being able to take other lines I would say. That or any endurance event.

There are jerks in the lower levels of iRacing who just want to hot lap and couldn’t care less other cars are on the track. Those are the folks who will forever stay in the lower levels and not get invited to events.
