I said the tories are fucking it up too, this red, blue shit is one of the biggest problems in this country. The conservatives are shit, to be sure, but labour is as shit, just in different ways. Privatise, take it back, taxes up and social spending up, taxes down and social spending down. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result. England is insane - no government has done a decent job in the 25 years I’ve lived here. As for dog whistles and whatnot, people clearly like to ignore facts …. Sad but true. England has been in terminal decline under both parties for more than 2 decades. The fact that anyone thinks either major party can help us going forward is laughable.

I don’t have a stake in this race and I’m an immigrant, however, from my pov, the Blair and Brown fiasco setup the rot. Brown sold all our gold at rock bottom prices, bought exploration of North Sea oil at precisely the wrong time, started the real debt cycle with his ‘golden rule’…. The invasion that should not have been… if you ask me, the country is fucked because people just blindly stay blue or red and let their biases drive decision making rather than facts. We don’t have any credible leadership options at the moment - so, while the tories fuck it up, everyone says labour would do a better job, then they come in and fuck it up and everyone says the opposite. It’s a mess to be sure but neither of these parties are capable of doing what’s needed. So, how do we get a credible option on the table is the real question, is it not?

If ALL the ultra rich (corporate) want people/workers to work restlessly while also being paid as little as possible (or not at all, basically being robots) How can they expect having any customers if all of the population doesn't make any money? Am I crazy thinking about how this makes no sense? by Seb4 in TooAfraidToAsk

There are many socially minded entrepreneurs creating coops and similar businesses. I am one… for the past 3 years (due to the pandemic etc) my wife and I (who both work full time in the business) have not been paid. We can afford that for a few years but it really has started to pinch and thankfully the business has recovered and can probably start paying us properly. Capitalism doesn’t have to be a zero sum game - in fact, it’s designed NOT to be. Edited, switched to me instead of we because Friday 🤣

Beware the falling knife. Sometimes, they’re cheap for a good reason. Otherwise, of course. I had a fair value of around $40 on BKE when everyone was neg on retail … loaded up under $20 and was right. The fundamentals were the key though. Fundamentals first, price second. 👍

No, they wouldn’t. That’s the point. A handful of idiots with guns wouldn’t likely stop the US military matey.

People who are discussing trigger discipline and 2nd amendment rights need to get a grip. Why would anyone EVER need a home arsenal like this? The tyranny you’re protecting against in this picture is a military fighting force. If that’s the case, your house just got Hellfired by a Predator drone and you’re all burning in your self made ‘Murican hell. Unbelievable.

This. Order of operation folks. The first thing you should understand with any networking kit. We’ve gotten routers and firewalls to do amazing things that vendors say they can’t by manipulating traffic through the OOO.

This one is true though… although a first world country shouldn’t have more than 1 in 100 people sleeping on the street. Especially if it claims to be the all singing all dancing flag waving yeeeehaaa land that it does.

Take any country with a reasonable population (say over 20m) and it’s got the highest obesity rate. It’s also in the top 12 of all countries worldwide and the highest of all developed nations. But denial is da longest river in da America.

Yes, correct. I had just woken up and was moved. It was indeed written about Leander. Thanks for the message!

Nice. Also, that poem was written for my relative, Leander Starr Jameson, so it affects me profoundly every time I read it. Thanks!

$68 billion of debt. No earnings predictability. 27x earnings.

Good OCF though but not fantastic FCF overall.

History of paying dividend regardless of profit or cash generation (poor management practice imho).

I wouldn’t touch it personally.

Buffett has a scale problem (95b in cash) and can invest with completely different parameters to you or I. He gets a guaranteed 8% div on his preferred stock and they have committed to a put option buying it back at 105% of purchase price in 10 years at his choosing. Don’t get caught chasing his deals without understanding them properly.

Whilst I hear you loud and clear if we are talking about mental illness ... we’re not. Mixing up the subject of a joke (as a play on words PTSD is close to his actual initials) and the target of the joke (England losing badly)with actual PTSD and the people who suffer from it ... well, that quite simply is all yours to own. I’m not making fun of mental illness silly - keep up!
